Would you trade the pick for Love if Lebron would guaranteed you that he would join the Cavs if Love plays there.

We'd need a signature before we can do that.

Can't trust that guy on a word.

If there is any hope what so ever of signing LeBrick I think this is the only way to get it done. Irving and Love would look mighty attractive to LeBrick. He is in win now mode, anyone you draft is going to time to get acclimated. If you guys do trade for Love with the 1st I think it is a sign that you guys think LeBrick is considering coming back.

Hell I'd do it anyways. Irving and Love would be in the playoffs in the weak East. You can added piece around them.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Not going for a "chance", kyrie & love alone won't get us far.

I disagree. In the weak east I could see them getting at least to the second round if you put some good pieces around them. No worse then at least making the playoffs.

Hell Love almost kept the Timberwolves at 500 in the dang west were 50 wins barely got in.

ok well that's cool but 2nd round is not good enough for us.

we're contenders in couple years weather it's with Kyrie, Wiggins/Embiid, and others, or is it Kyrie, LeBron, etc, or completely different team, the end goal is title, can't take chances by gambling on appealing to LeBron, that killed us first time around for ****'s sake.

I am not a big believer in LBJ coming back to Cleveland, but with Cleveland holding Miami's 2015 1st (top 10 protected in 2015 and 2016, unprotected in 2017), if he were to come, that pick's value would likely skyrocket. Hell, he just has to leave Miami in general for that to happen, but the prior would be icing on the cake.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Knicks Fan: Would you do a S&T - Melo for #1 Pick?

Post#1311 » by Logicjbr » Thu May 22, 2014 8:29 pm

Knicks/Magic fan here. I've posted this on both boards and have received a bunch of views. Would love to hear what you guys have to say.

This to me is how you get LeBron back in Cleveland. I keep hearing how LeBron wants to play with Melo and vice versa...

I don't think S&Ts are a thing anymore, assuming only purpose of this s&t is to give melo the bird rights type of deal, would put us in cap situation where we couldn't even sign lebron.

otherwise we could just sign both outright with no need for a s&t.

It honestly just doesn't make sense.

I keep hearing that's the only way to get Melo to either CHI, HOU, or GS. so I think it is. And yes - it would be for bird rights. You guys are way under the cap and could then sign Lebron straight up.

LeBron's max would start at 20m, carmelo's at 22.5, we're at 32m & that's after renouncing rights to varejao+gee, you're looking at 75m payroll & the cap is at 63m.

It means you'd have to take Jerrett Jack

I wouldn't say you.dodged a bullet.. you obviously got the best player in the Draft that year. but to say you dodged a bullet is a understatement.. Enes is a great player who could be a double double machine.. he's already had a couple of 20 20 games and his minutes have been bad.

It seems to be a pretty steep price for the number 1 pick.. what could the Jazz offer to get there?

I think, if they really want to play together - besides them opting in until next year, this would be the only way it happens. Or Lebron opts in MIA, they let go of Bosh and Wade takes a pay cut to sign Melo straight up.

I also think Melo is smart enough to take couple M pay cut in order to play with another future superstar if he does go to Cle.

Makes no sense to play with LeBron/Kyrie when you can play with LeBron/Kyrie/Embiid.

I would rather have gotten Kanter than TT, then and now. Its just that at 5 the players that will be available are all a tier below the top 3, and Exum will likely be gone by then as well. In this draft I just cant see dropping out of the top 3 in any deal for the first pick.
