If it were Pills in charge, it'd have been Ziaire with the 8th pick

Don't know if that's better or worse, though.

It looks like Toronto wants KP. That's a topic in General Board.

They will get Dragic from the Heat and try to exchange him for KP!!

Just throwing out a McBride/Grimes duo would be an improvement over Payton/Bullock.

I don't think anyone is arguing it wouldn't be an improvement. Are you willing to lock that duo up for 40 MM a season for the foreseeable future?

The strategy of keeping cap space open and get one-year deals is not working. We eventually need to cap out and cumulate contracts and better players.

I think Fournier OK considering the market. I dont like Dennis very much after his last season.

We can use these contracts as fillers to get a real star. They should not be hard to move. Youngish players.

I disagree there. 20 MM for role players you most likely have to attach draft capital to move them.

A 20 mil expiring deal is not hard to move at all in today’s day and age. Not to mention that’s a nice piece to have midseason if a star shakes loose. Also not to mention… Fournier is good.

Marcus Morris is a good and recent example of this, for sure.

It’s not really that hard for a fan of a team that desperately needs shooters to talk themselves into a good reliable shooter while still having more than half their cap space after signing him.

Funny things happen when markets dry up. I’d expect that to be the case for both those guys with those demands.

You're also underestimating how much a high salary can F up team chemistry. The minute they pay Fournier a real salary higher than RJ it creates a hierarchical pecking order that may or may not be out of line with the actual talent levels on the court.

Paying a role player like Fournier in excess of $20m/season is a risk unless you have a well established/defined pecking order ahead of him. One of the reasons our 2020 squad was so cohesive was because only Julius was making a big boy salary. Everybody else was on fairly equal ground.

If we sign Fournier to anything longer than 2 years, then we'd better be trading for another veteran who makes more than Julius so that Fournier's salary becomes commensurate with his status in the pecking order. Otherwise you could end up with a toxic situation where he's outplayed by Grimes or RJ and it f*cks up the whole team. Because like it or not, coaches feature the guys who make big salaries, especially when management goes out on a limb to recruit them as signature acquisitions.

I wouldn't mind a look at Markelle Fultz if Orlando make him available, they do have a PG glut now.

there is no mandate to reach the salary floor. They will spend the money but I have seen this brought up multiple times you are not penalized by not hitting the salary floor the players on your roster just get distributed more money.
