Boston can't win. lmao

Can't win until they actually win the big one. Different standard set by media (and fans) compared to other teams. It just is what it is.

To be fair, do you disagree? I mean.... as great as this regular season has been for us it will mean literally nothing if we flame out in the playoffs again. Fans have seen us look great in the regular season before and then shrink in the finals and again against a play in heat team as heavy favorites.

Boston is getting the right amount of credit right now in my eyes. They haven't done anything yet except have a really impressing regular season. If they want more credit, go earn it when the real season starts and the lights are brightest.

All I care about is our historic net rating and SRS. Denver can have their 2nd banner.

I think my favorite part of the Celtics post-all star break is how Jaylen Brown basically just runs over his defender for a layup at least twice a game now. Seriously, it' like a HB draw play. Set a PnR, Jaylen puts his shoulder down, guys bounce off him.

Even guys like Arron Gordon, known "strong dudes," bounce off him.

NBA let things get more physical since the all star break and Brown ran with it.

The Celtics have by far the easiest schedule left in the league. They play Washington 2x, Detroit 2x, Charlotte 2x, Atlanta 2x, Chicago 1x and Portland 1x.

Only six real games left on the schedule. 2 vs the Bucks, 1 vs NYK, 1 vs OKC, 1 vs SAC and 1 vs NOP. Four of those 6 are at home, and none are B2B's.

Just take care of business against the teams we should blow away, that's the 10 of the 16 games you mentioned left right there and would put us at 62 wins. Thunder and Nuggets would both have to win all 16 of their remaining games just to tie us at 62 wins. Neither team is going to do that, those 10 wins would lock up home court all the way through the playoffs.

Don't get injured, don't get bored. TCOB. Celtics are 24-1 against teams below .500. Have 10 more of those opponents left. Magic number is 11. We're virtually a lock for the best record in the NBA, first time since 2007-08.

Some time during this month, the Celtics broke the 1,000 mark in three pointers made. 4th time in franchise history. They're on pace to break the franchise record in made threes for a single season.

Image

The Celtics are making 16.4 threes per game on 42.4%. That accuracy on that volume has never been done. Previous high for makes per game on 40%+ accuracy is 14.3 by the Clippers in 2020-21. Previous high for 3FG% on 15+ makes per game is is 38.9% by the Jazz in 2020-21. Peak Warriors from 3 in 2015-16 made 13.1 threes per game at 41.6%.

By the time it ends, the Celtics would've spent the regular season on top of the East the entire time outside of six days in November and opening night. That would be 95.98% of the season as the one-seed. Higher than the 95.29% the 2008 Celtics spent as the one-seed.

15 games left, and nobody catches us for home court unless we lose 6 of those.

Unless I'm misremembering:

3 of the games are against really good teams who have more to play for than we do -- or at least with really good records and current health in line with what got them there, namely OKC and 2x Bucks. The rest are all Knicks or worse, mainly much worse.

It’s finally happened. This year’s Celtics now own (at least for a night) the highest relative offensive rating (+7.5) in franchise history, edging out the 1987-88 Celtics (+7.4).

Yeah the magic number for home court throughout the entire playoffs is currently 10, as we're 6 games up on OKC.

Technically if we were to beat them head to head in our final matchup to draw the season series, the number is at 9 since we'd have the tiebreaker of best conference record (which is what it is for Denver since they are 7 games back but have already won the season series and own the tiebreaker if we finish with the same record).

We've got 9 very winnable games: Detroit twice, Atlanta twice, Charlotte twice, Chicago, Portland and Washington again.

The other 6 are against legit competition but teams we have and should beat again (Bucks twice, OKC, New Orleans, Sacramento and the Knicks).

OKC is running a similar gauntlet with the Bucks twice, SAC/NOP/NYK plus the C's again, but they've also got games agains Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Indy etc. So not quite as soft as ours. Denver is the real threat even though they're 7 games back because they've lucked out with 3 games against the T-Wolves without KAT, but still have PHX/LAC/CLE/NYK sprinkled in there as well.

So as long as we take care of business over the next soft stretch, we should end up with some wiggle room at the end of the season to get some extra rest and still confidently have HCA all the way through the finals.
