I think they are including Billups because the Nets want him in so they can sell Melo a team of Lopez, Humphries, Hamilton and Billups as a playoff team. I think Denver would probably prefer to keep him.

Uh oh

There is no "uh oh". Melo isn't signing the extension

Seriously, there's no "uh oh." At this point, we WANT Denver and NJ to finally come to agreement, so NJ can finally try and futilely convince Melo on their 10-26 blueprint of success. Denver won't even consider NY until Melo flat out rejects NJ.

so now Detroit is involved. I am so Glad Donnie is sitting back watching this there is nothing outside of the draft pick they have that I want ever. Detroit wants to get involved to save money.

Every player on that Nets roster is going to be mentally shot after all of this is said and done. And the worse part about it is, there seems to be no real chance for the nets to make a deal.

Instead of focusing on basketball, and the future, they are playing games. Participating with the nuggets in a game of spite. Its going to come back and get them. Already a poor franchise with bad reputation and little fan support. All that owner in NJ cares about is land and power.

And they have neither. BK's nets first major splash will be a fire sale.

This is why I think Rod Thorn left. He knew Prokhorov's method to being a contender was just gonna blow up in there face and he wanted no part of it.

You really can't rely on any one reporter anymore because they all seem to be biased. Woj refuses to even acknowledge the extension despite the fact that it's probably the biggest caveat to any potential deal.

Woj doesn't care about that. He only cares about getting traffic to the website

once this carmelo thing is over, reporters are going to put their focus on howard/paul/williams. even though the knicks might not have any need for those players if the knicks gel with melo, reporters are purposely going to add the knicks to the rumors.

Formula seems to be to first say NY is the "preferred destination." The next step is to write everything necessary to contradict the first step. The last step is to say NY was never really in it at all.

@Chris_Broussard

Detroit doesn't want Petro, so NJ currently trying to find landing spot for Petro. Detroit may eventually relent but rt now doesn't want JP

Detroit's motivation is big $ savings - $25 million w/ out Petro , just $17 mill with him.

Of course, Melo still has to sign off on all this & agree to ext with NJ, but NJ getting indications Melo's agreeable.....

NJ getting indications Melo sit-down with Mikhail Prokhorov and Jay-Z may not even be necessary to convince Melo to sign w/NJ.

IF NJ is getting such indications then its probably coming from b*tchass leon rose.. cant wait for this to be over & done with

I'm wondering if it's gonna be this hectic if they decide to go up to the deadline.

No guarantee Melo will sign off on deal. He's mum about that. NJ likes chances though.

AKA Leon Rose is leading the Nets on
