Funny things happen when markets dry up. I’d expect that to be the case for both those guys with those demands.

Nerlens Noel rejected a 25m per contract several years ago. Never got an offer as near as big as that ever since. Life can come at you fast and hard

there is no mandate to reach the salary floor. They will spend the money but I have seen this brought up multiple times you are not penalized by not hitting the salary floor the players on your roster just get distributed more money.

But thats the thing though...the differential amount from floor to current salary would be spread around the players on the roster -- when they could sign an impactful player with the differential money.

The Knicks have Rose early bird rights. They certainly are not aiming to overpay him but it looks like they want to give him a raise and they are letting another ballclub "decide" Rose value
