Giannis literally said "I'm locked in for the season". Everything you're saying is paranoid conjecture. You have no info that the Knicks called because Giannis agent called them. Every team calls, every year.

Giannis has said the same thing now as he's said for years. He's here as long as we're winning. For the 1st time in his career, he's surrounded by a team that properly compliments his game. The remnants of Buds glacier slow veterans are gone. The slow trigger shooters are gone. Uncaring Dame is gone.

Dame was a bad match with Giannis.Expect Turner to be a good complement.

Jrue and Khris along with a younger Lopez were perfect complements for Giannis. We still don’t have a team with such perfect matching. But the current team has decent defense and great shooting ability. Kpj has a high ceiling. Lack of size and/or skill at the sf position is a major drawback; Khris had everything before he got hurt —— he was the perfect complement for Giannis. If only we could roll back the clock..

Brook was the slowest dude in the league even before he slowed down. His presence forced the Bucks to play a passive defense. An aggressive defense that can force turnovers is a much better fit for the Leagues best ever transition scorer.

Keegan Murray will be out months after thumb surgery. Time to rekindle trade talks with the Kings involving their longtime target, Kyle Kuzma.

There trick here is rerouting Malik Monk for a true wing. The Bucks can take on extras salary in the deal.

It’d be the strangest of times to make a deal. That said, the Kings probably held out hope for Kuminga until the last minute, but if they were planning to just wait until he’s tradeable in a few months, Keegan’s injury makes that significantly riskier for their season.

Bucks in theory could be negotiating tough biding their time (and seeing how Kuz looks in camp) but if it’d somehow happen against the odds more likely it’d be because Giannis going public changed the calculus.

Kings also still wanted to open up space in the backcourt as of a few days ago even before their only real forward with size got hurt:

“I’m told there is strong mutual interest between Russell Westbrook and the Sacramento Kings,” Charania said (hat tip to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports). “And the Kings have a need for a reserve point guard. They were 29th in bench points, 29th in bench assists last season. Russell Westbrook helps with that, and he’s got relationships across that organization.

“Domantas Sabonis, he’s close with, played with him. He played with Dennis Schröder as well. DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, they have L.A. ties as well. BJ Armstrong, the new assistant general manager there. He knows BJ Armstrong from the agency side, and he does have respect with Scott Perry, their new general manager, and Doug Christie, their new head coach.

“We’ll see if a deal gets done before the start of the season or during this upcoming year.”

I’ve been underwhelmed by Coffey to say the least. He’s just another worse version of Prince. Anytime he’s asked to do anything but catch and shoot, it’s an adventure that ends in a bad shot or turnover.

Giannis for Sengun, Amen, Suns 2027 unprotected, 2027 best pick of BKN/Houston unprotected, 2029 most two most favorable first round picks of Houston/PHX/Dallas/BKN, 2031 Houston pick unprotected.

Trade Sengun to whoever gives you even more unprotected first round picks and expiring or young contracts.
This is the Eff You trade offer. You don't want to do it, but this actually makes sense.

Great post! I agree whole heartedly.

Piggy backing off having fun with this team, I’m still bearish on Kuzma but I think some pseudo Giannis role with the 2nd unit could be beneficial for him and the team. It’s an easy way to control him where Doc can pick and choose his spots so chaotic Kuz can’t be overly detrimental.

I’d say our 9 man rotation is pretty much set and again, like you said it’s going to be a fun team. Based off the 5v5 practice footage of AJ Greens alley oop, it looks like the starters were KPJ/Trent/AJG/Fr34k/Myles with Rollins/Anthony/Ajax/Coffey/Bobby on defense.

Everyone keeps talking about the upgrade from Brook to Myles Turner but I think everyone is looking at that completely wrong. The fast paced successful lineup was Bobby and Giannis, not Brook. Brook played in the starting lineup with Dame/Prince/Kuz/Giannis and that’s night and day polar opposite situation Myles is stepping into now.

That KPJ/Trent/Green/Giannis/Bobby lineup we had all our success with has an upgrade from Bobby Portis which is significantly more important than I’ve seen anyone talking about….

Giannis has shooters, defenders, athletes, physicality and high character players all around him, a well respected coach and his brother. I think ppl underrate the current situation because the media has driven down everyone’s throats it’s hard not to second guess things and we’ve had bad luck since 2021 but all that is finally about to change now. I believe 100% with the success the Bucks and Giannis will have this year and the added flexibility for roster moves, Giannis signs his extension.

We’re all going to be witnesses of a huge shift in trajectory with this roster and that includes Giannis. He’ll have the best seat in the house watching KPJ, AJ Green and Ryan Rollins all transcend into viable core pieces on a championship caliber team.
I'm liking the cut of your jib, sir.

So, is that the team?

KPJ (30)/Rollins (18)
Green (30)/Anthony (18)
GTJ (30)/Kuzma (18)
Giannis (36)/Kuzma (6)/Bobby (6)
Turner (30)/Bobby (18)

I love this. I don’t even hate Kuzma assuming he embraces a bench role like Bobby has done.

I'd bump Turner to 32 and knock Giannis down to 34 or 35. There should be a few minutes for Sims but there really is 0 reason to play Kuzma at any of the 4 spot minutes. Bobby should ideally eat all of the C/PF backup minutes but I understand getting Sims some run depending on matchups. Kuzma should never play with Giannis either so he likely needs less minutes but the reality is if we are trying to trade him he's going to have to get minutes with Giannis, hopefully Doc does that against weak teams.

Given how limited Milwaukee's assets are I'm still keeping an eye on Cam Thomas. He is a starter in preseason, but Brooklyn should be uncomfortable with that given that he will probably be gone next season and they are rebuilding. Let me also remind you that Thomas shares the same agent with Giannis and Bucks already had interest in him in the deadline.

Smith and Jackson for Thomas could get it done.

Brooklyn opens minutes for their recenlty signed FRPs and gets a look at two more young players. Bucks seemed interested in having a backup microwave scorer after signing Anthony. I guess Thomas is a much better option for this role.

KPJ..........Rollins........Anthony
Green.......Thomas.......Harris
GTJ.........Prince.........Thanasis
Giannis.....Kuzma........Livingston
Turner.......Portis.........Sims

Devin Carter is right there for the taking because the Kangz are still stubbornly zeroed in on opening up a roster spot for Westbrook. Do it.

Wouldn't be mad if between now and Dec 15 we tried to answer the question of "How many guards is too many guards?" Let's test the limits of this thing.

Not worried about when he's gone, just going to enjoy the team we got while it is the closest to competing - and it won't be a competitor once Giannis is gone. The good news is that through the preseason, the team has looked pretty decent with zero Giannis minutes. So it seems a little bit overblown to already forecast tragedy on them, especially sans the best player who stirs the drink.

A lot of pressure that the team wins, has fun and plays well together making Giannis want to stay. But basically that's every star on every team.

Lot of hope riding on this idea that Brook has been the problem with the defense the last several years (last season being the first and only season where that was technically true). Team is gonna need to be at the very minimum a Top-10 unit, and if we're actually serious about being even a fringe, dark-horse contender in the conference, then it probably needs to be closer to Top-5. Kuzma for literally any higher salary 3&D wing (maybe DeAndre Hunter is available again mid-season?) would go a long way to helping that.
