I didn't read the rest of your post, but I really hope you were kidding when calling Iggy a horrible defender? :-? :o

He's one of the best perimeter defenders in this league. Coach K of Team USA called him one of the best perimeter defenders he's ever worked with last summer ..

So please don't call Iggy a horrible defender

I apologize, and take that back. The point is, the guy is owed 45 million over the next three years. He's not worth that type of money.

Do you ACTUALLY think Jason Rich is anywhere CLOSE to being in Iggy's level?

No..It's not. I agree with you. Some analysts even say he's even a third option on a good team getting paid first option money much like....all together now.....Rashard Lewis.

People like dwightsmight12 say that this team will never land an elite player with Otis Smith here then follow that with "we should've gotten Iggy" WTF?! That makes no sense at all.

Right so the logical answer would be to add another bad contract and player you would bitch about in a week..No thanks.

We win because we didn't do anything stupid and decided to stand pat and watch a few good East teams **** themselves. I'm more than happy.

There's still a small chance we can get Murphy apparently
@STEIN_LINE_HQ Marc Stein
Also told Troy Murphy has NOT made decision yet -- no deal w/Boston, in other words -- and plans to take lap around field (ORL, NYK, MIA)

All I can say is.. let's settle down with everyone esp with the teams who made the trades. Then we can see if we should panic or not. Some of the teams who pulled the trigger might be worse off right now.

Example is, what happens if BOS gets any one of the oneals injured, they might be regretting the trade.

Are the knicks gonna get pounded by the bigger teams seeing as that Amare, Turiaf and Melo are their biggest guys and ther are all 6'9 or below?

IF ever they do end up meshing well... then that's the time to panic not now

F*** troy murphy. He can go wherever, he's still a scrub. How in the hell did any east team screw themselves except us when we traded for arenas?

Murphy wouldn't be bad .. He's just had some arguements with the Nets' coach this year .. He's still a nice player for the money he would get.

Anyone besides Murphy we could use?
@STEIN_LINE_HQ Marc Stein
Buyout near-locks: T. Murphy, T.J. Ford, Jared Jeffries, Kapono. We'll see on Przybilla. Mike Bibby? Harder w/extra season left on contract

This.

I still can't believe Boston would trade away their big man depth like that.

Boston **** themselves hard.

Our chances at Boston just got that much higher.

My pick is Indiana to win the East.

Major differences there. Both situations were unique.

OKC needed a center. Badly. They traded for one of the top centers in the game. One who has been known to be a tough out.

Deron Williams was traded for a rookie that was a top 5 pick, a decent point guard, and two draft picks that will likely end up in the lottery (Nets this year, Golden State's next year)...That's a lot to give up for one player...we don't have assets like that

what's unique is that Otis didn't make calls about those players.

i'm sorry, but the fact that these deals have happened, and have surprised people, is proof that the opportunities are out there, they're just waiting to be discovered.

there's no knowing what Otis did do, there's just knowing what Otis didn't do - and that's get Dwight any significant help when there was an abundance of it moving around. you can say the deals weren't there to be had, but clearly the deals were, since players were getting moved. we just didn't try to turn our pieces into pieces other teams wanted. plain and simple.

if a franchise tag isn't included in this CBA, then this team better get to work clearing house to make room. unless we want to hinge our hopes on this roster and the smaller trades it's possible of making.

I agree, but what can we do?

Hedo and Gil are untradeable, and are occupying quite a lot of space.

Anyone whose familiar with the news of the upcoming CBA, do you know if there is a possibility that something will be added that allows us to somehow throw these guys away, or at least scale them down?

We don't know that!

There are always deals to be had...there weren't any worth trading for for us...At least not in the eyes of management

No, we do know that, he admitted it:

"That trade surprised everyone, including Deron Williams," said Magic President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith.

Asked if he had made an offer for Williams, Smith said he hadn't

@WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Philly's Darius Songalia could be a buyout candidate generating interest elsewhere, including Orlando, Miami and Golden State, sources say.

Well now we can all sit back and wait till July to see what moves are made. As far as this is season is concerned, Otis pretty much threw in the towel and conceded. Face it, not a glimmer of a backup center, thats real genius of you Otis. I guess he expects this same team that lost to the Kings last night to just turn it around. Or at least fire Stan who is clueless, do something. Oh well, see you in July.
