Good contract for us. Not the best fit guy but a much needed wing upgrade. Now we need to moved Henderson somewhere to get some extra big man help.

I'm far from a fan of Rick Bonnell, but I actually think he was right on this one. I think it took near doom in free-agency for Charlotte to change train of thought towards making a offer to Lance Stephenson

I feel a lot more comfortable with this contract than I had with some of the rumored ones. Welcome to Charlotte Lance!!!

I do hope the team keeps Hendo. He would be a solid 6th man IMHO. I honestly expect Neal or PJ to get moved at this point. Neal for Dudley works cap wise and even if Duds doesn't have much left in the tank he would be a good fit here. Similarly there could be a trade of one of those two guys for a backup PG.

Hopefully the negativity here can end for a while now. :)
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

The GREAT news that become even better news with signing Stephenson is that we don't need a PF that has to facilitate like we needed McRoberts beforehand since Henderson can't facilitate. Stephenson will now take on the role of secondary ball handler and based on his track record he is just as willing to shoot the 3-pointer as Gordon Hayward at similar percentages

Also love that Lance will be able to spend some time spelling Kemba at the point and add some offense to our bench - means we can rest Kemba more without having to give Roberts too much burn.

I kind of want Boozer now as our second unit low post threat. Eww, can't believe I just typed that.

Hendo? 6th man?

This further back my belief that Stephenson wanted to sign anywhere else but Indiana, and that he was just waiting for Charlotte to make him a offer, because this signing happened very fast, and it's not like the Hornets gave him that much better of a offer than the Pacers. He just didn't want to return to that fragile locker room where they treated him like a outsider

My hope is that Cho has been working on a trade to send Hendo and (perhaps) Zeller to a team for a legit starting 4. That would allow Noah to develop slowly as Williams could swing between the 3 & 4 as needed. If he pulls that off, it could be a masterful off-season for our Hornets!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

That is an awesome contract. 3 years $9 mil...with a PO in the 3rd year. Perfect. I better take my Lamb avatar down then. I don't see much use for it now.

If you believe Bonnell the signing happened fast. We could have been talking for over a week behind the scenes though. This could have been a slow negotiation over the course of a few conversations and we were waiting on some dominos to fall. I just doubt it all happened in like 12 hours so Bonnell was at least a little wrong here.

Wow! I didn't want him at the start of open season because he is so volatile and I thought he was going to go for much more money and years.
But I'm pretty bloody excited when I saw the news. I think its a perfect gamble with the size of the contract, the Chobot gets it done.
I think next year will either be a massive flame out or a huge year for this team.
I haven't been more excited or intrigued about an upcoming season for us in a long time.

Hendo, Zeller for Thad Young. Do it Cho.

I think it's very possible he would have gone back, but he felt their offer wasn't worthy. Broussard said on ESPN radio that Lance actually preferred a shorter contract, but the Pacers shorter term offer was even less annual money than their 4 year offer. Charlotte's deal stood out.

Perhaps he did want to go elsewhere. I hope he wanted to come here, as it offers the perfect place to start this phase of his career. MJ will mentor him as he has tried to do for Hendo. I'm sure Jordan sees a lot more potential in Lance than Henderson.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm just as disgusted to type that I kind of want Carlos Boozer as a 'starting' PF. Clifford is close to Thibodeau, and if we acquired Boozer I would hope that we use him the same way the Bulls did, whereas there's a short leash on him from quarters 1 thru 3, and play him very seldom in the 4th quarter because of his defensive deficiencies

As far as Henderson, if we keep him, of course he should come off the bench, but I'd hope we find a better scorer to be our 6th man. If not, he's kind of adequate, but not ideal. This would be the perfect time to try to find a deal involving Henderson (and draft picks if necessary) to absorb Jeff Green from the Celtics to be our 6th man

I read somewhere that it's a 'team option' on the 3rd year, but maybe that source was wrong. I don't know yet

9 Million!?!? WOOOOO

I love this. I wasn't really on either side during the lengthy discussions we've had but now that he's ours I'm actually happy about this. For this salary I love to have him.

MKG, Stephenson and Kemba!?!? Good luck trying to penetrate against us. We're definitely ready to take the next step as far as our defense goes. It's up for Coach Cliff to install some more heavy stuff, traps and over-loading of the strong side and Lance to be the better defender when compared to Hendo.

Hendo should be ready to be our sixth man, the role he should have on a playoff team. Now we actually have to look forward to him taking two dribbles and making a mid-range jumper coz god knows we need those bail-out shots when the clock is ticking down and our second unit hasn't gone nowhere.

In the words of Reks:

we solemnly swear to be a problem this year

I hope we can get a legit starting 4. I really wish we still had Mcroberts tho. I wonder if we could land him somehow. Maybe boozer as well. I believe in Marvin for a year tho.

KEMBA
LANCE TO MAKE THEM DANCE HAHAHA
MKG
?????
BIG AL

Anyone know who we can get for PF?

This is also good news because now PJ can go to jail from time to time if he chooses and we are covered with 3 other sg's
UPDATED `10-22-2025

These are who I want with our picks in order

THEM - Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen

UNCNYC - Arthur Agee, William Gates

That would be the absolute ideal situation going forward from here. I like zeller but I dont think he will ever be more than a solid starter down the road. We need a legit guy to be there until Vonleh is ready to be the starter.
Henderson has been a great player for us, but a starting SG with no 3pt range is not going to cut it on most teams.
