can everyone stop with the insults in this thread?
I know people have differing opinions, but one of the ways that you WONT convey your message is by just insulting the opposing party.

Official Speculation Thread Pt.LXII
@Orlwillbeback
I don't care if you're pro-tanking or anti-tanking, calling people names is not nice. That's one of the things they teach you in Kindergarten, assuming you actually passed it, then you should know that. He might have different opinions then you, but he's never mean and calls people names. You owe Dalic an apology and an apology to the rest of us as well. The Real Dalic is actually a close friend of mine and him and I argue a lot about stuff related to the Magic, we just don't have our debates on here. We are all fans of the same team and remember one thing, you mess with one of us, then you mess with all of us.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Pt.LXII
Man, AA makes only 7mi a year, that's low for any SG starter, imagine for a 21/5/5 guy.
People talk like he is 32, he is only 28, just hitting his prime, he gets better every season, hard worker, knows his role, good team player.
And what's the problem if he will be 30 when our team runs for the title? Kobe is 36, Wade 31, JJ 32, Pierce 36, Manu 36, Parker 31 and so on... i know he isnt in the same level as most of them, but his game isnt so based on athletism, so he can keep playing well for many years and they all make 12+ a year.
As a 3rd option, he is very good, IMO. We can't have MAX money players in all spots. If we have 2 MAX + 3 players costing 7mi a year, tha'ts almost 60 mi a year.

A lot of truth to this. I be Rob really wants to keep AA.....He is probably considering deals as they come in though obviously. He's shown that he can play and I bet there are some teams who wouldn't mind snatching him up.

No, because he'd be 21 years old on a rookie deal.![]()
Afflalo hate is all age and contract. We need this guy on the team 2 or 3 years from now, not today.
You hate his contract? His contract is very reasonable for being 27 and how well he is playing. He's been a top 5-10 SG this year with his numbers. Heck he probably being underpaid right now.
You act like his deal is completely handcuffing the team. It's not hurting us a bit.
I left it out cause I've said it so many times before, but I mean his upcoming contract. He'll be going for $$ and years as it will be his last deal probably. We don't want to be in that situation, having to give Afflalo a 4 year, 32 million dollar contract.
I want to make clear that I think he is playing amazing this year, that's why I want to get rid of him. Trade value today is sky high for him, we don't need someone of his talent for 3 years.

^^ That guy is drunk.
Seriously defend your position. Make the case that we should not tank. I don't want to win 35 games and draft Gary **** Harris!
The fate of the team does not rest on a single pick, that's insane. people here forget the capspace the team will have the next two summers, so if we do overachieve free agency is an option.
Sure it'd be great to get 1 of the big 3, but not the end of the world

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

I don't know. I think our future hinges on landing a potential star with a top 5 pick this year. If we do we have franchise player for at least 7 years. I don't care what kind of money we have to throw at free agents, small markets are a hard sell and have been crapshoots. The only way a small market team like orlando can contend for titles is to do what the spurs and thunder have done: draft superstar talent to build around with high draft picks then grab roleplayers in free agency.

Exactly. Memphis has reached its limit with its core. Indiana however seems to be an anomaly. It's very uncommon for a team to come together like the pacers and challenge for a title. I'd rather take the more proven path the spurs have taken.

The Magic have gotten any major free agent they wanted pretty much when they were willing to spend the money.
And speaking of crapshoots, the draft is the biggest crapshoot in all sports. Free agents are known commodities, rookies are not.

The Spurs are actually the anomaly. That's what makes them so special. They're the only team in the last 10 years and maybe even more than that that have one a championship with a mostly drafted core. Every other team that has won a championship has improved to championship level through trades and free agency.

The pacers got lucky and drafted 2 all stars in the teens of the draft: Granger and now George.
George appears to be a franchise player and he was selected 12th. That's pretty uncommon.

Overall you cant just overgeneralize and say teams either build through the draft or build through free agency. You just have to do what you can to acquire assets.

This I somewhat agree with. Though I wouldn't say it's uncommon. I would say it's not as likely.
There have been many allstars and superstars in the latter part of the lotto. But that's mostly because of the GMs ability to draft.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Pt.LXII
By the way, I want to make it very clear that I would love to draft Randle, Wiggins, or Parker. Sometimes it feels like I'm being misunderstood whenever I talk about the draft. I know the draft is the best asset for the Magic right now. My only thing is I hate losing on purpose and I also know there are more options than the draft.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Pt.LXII
Golden State, San Antonio, Miami, OKC, LAC and Indiana
What do they have in common?
Each team drafted their star and are competing for a championship.
LeBron would have never went to Miami if it wasn't for Wade and same with Chris Paul re-signging in LAC due to Griffin. This team has nothing to attract big time free agents at the moment.
