I wouldn't be surprised to see both Donte and Brook sent out in some form this year, especially if Brook is out. Like if Portland blows it up and trades like CJ/Nurk for some Ben Simmons package I wouldn't be too shocked to see the Bucks try to swoop in and take like RoCo for Donte/Brook under the allure of adding a versatile wing but really just saving a **** load of money dumping Brook to pay Bobby more freely and not resigning Donte next year. Not saying I want something like that to happen but I feel like it's been brewing.

I'm just curious whats out there for Donte. I don't feel strongly one way or another outside of giving Donte a long term contract.

I'm not denying Jrue is the better player. But your not swapping out Jrue for CJ, you're worsening on one position to improve on another. So your analysis kinda misses the point.

It's not really missing the point because I think you rarely ever become a better team in the NBA by trading a dime for two nickels. And that philosophy rings true for me 10x more when the formula/roster construction is already a proven championship commodity.

I disagree with you both. I do not think one is that much better than the other. One is a better shooter and one is a better defender but not a big enough difference that you have to make a trade.

No one outside of Giannis is "untradeable". But Jrue is a great fit on a championship team. He's an elite defender (Dame recently said the best perimeter defender in the league). Trade him for CJ? Nope.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Oh I'm already resigned to the fact that there's going to be a very vocal contingent of fans that are gonna immediately spend all offseason on the trade machine and advocate blowing up the core if/when we don't repeat or 3-peat or whatever. I get it to some extent because "continuity" is boring. But there's a fine line between being complacent and arrogantly thinking you're playing 4D chess with "assets". I'm not even thinking about breaking up the Big-3 until we've had a solid 3-4 year run with these guys. Only something along the lines of a KD/Lillard type acquisition would really cause me to deviate from that thinking.

The thing with Jrue is you can't trade him now since you need him to win, but his value is at an all-time high. I wouldn't have the balls to trade him, but if we don't win in the next 2 years his contact will be devastating for the final 2. Fast forward to 2023 and we are facing repeater tax with 133m committed to the Big3+allen. If we don't have multiple trophies, I'm worried what ownership would do at that point. I wouldn't be totally opposed to looking into alternatives that allow to be a contender but for a longer period.

I'm just enjoying Giannis while I can cause the future isnt guaranteed.

Yep, at this point I think you just run it back until you can't any longer. Assuming we bomb out, maybe you move an aging Jrue for something later, but largely just keep working the middle/bottom half of the roster looking for the next Brook and next Allen and next Patty

Very easy to buy low on guys and see how they can operate with the spacing Giannis provides, seems like they have been pretty good at identifying those guys available for cheap.

I'm not against trading anyone besides Giannis, but CJ isn't that guy

Like I don't think due to cost of acquisition there's a major trade out there that actually improves us and I doubt any CJ+ for Jrue deal actually out there does so. But as you said, it's 'fun' to think about that and this is realgm after all.

For a CJ/Jrue swap to actually improve our title chances short and long term there would have to be a drastic overpay in terms of assets along with a player that fits our roster and is cheap to acquire relative to his level.

I could see the drastic overpay in some scenario (e.g. Portland wants Simmons badly and is willing to overpay - Sixers want to trade Simmons badly, don't want CJ but are in love with Jrue - we're willing to take CJ as long as both teams drastically overpay), but I'm struggling to find a team that has a player they're looking to trade that moves the needle so much for us to make a swap worthwhile and will accept a bulk of draft compensation. Anyway, it's just a thought.

Apparently (my uncle mentioned) there was a rumor discussed on AM 1250 today. Bart was talking to an nba insider and they claimed to have a very credible source who said that the Bucks and Hornets were discussing DDV for Miles Bridges.

No part of me believes that this is a true rumor, and i havent been able to find it on social, but im wondering if anyone else heard this or knows anything in addition.

I was on my way to the office when I heard this ridiculousness. Random sports radio listener (not an NBA insider) called into the show and claimed his "sources" said there had been discussion around a Donte for Bridges deal. Went on to say his "sources" ended up being right the majority of the time.

Lol, Bridges is a damn near untouchable player for Charlotte right now. Still baffles me how out of touch local radio guys are and how we can't replace these dumb fossils with people that have actual modern sports knowledge.

It may be BS, but someone in the front office put it in Zach Lowe's ear both that "right now there is optimism around the situation that Lopez can come back before the playoffs" and that it is very important for him to come back since "they need his rim protection and his size."

Whether or not the optimism is authentic or not, Brook coming back is a giant variable moving forward.

If he can't then the extent to which the Bucks value picking up another defensive minded big man could change considerably (depending on how Boogie + Mamu do), which in turn could impact our posture to Donte as an asset as well.
