I still not satisfied with how our bench looks, still filled with flaws. No chips are coming until that's fixed period.

agree but come on, christ on a bike, we're about to finally get a superstar willing to stay for the long run and be the face of the franchise after kobe, something that people had concerns with regarding bynum, and you're not getting excited? :-? :o

Naw rookie.....I'm not getting excited, I've seen the Lakers do this a few times kid nothing new about it to me.

@destro....

Yeah I made an empty threat and never got Saltine on his turf as I promised. Hell it was enough troops manning the board that night, but y'all was trying to be his friend instead.

Interesting that Dwight's agent through Bucher is disputing Randolph's story that Dwight will resign.

Dwight Howard's agent said Thursday night that despite reports that have said otherwise, that his client fully prepares to test free agency after this season.
This is response to RealGM.com's report that Howard would agree to an extension with the Lakers, and it's worth noting that the website broke the story last season that Howard would not opt out of his deal. It's a predictable response from Howard's agent in order to maintain leverage, and we wouldn't read too much into it either way.

The agent for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard refuted reports that his client has decided he will sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers -- if traded to them.

"Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season," said Dan Fegan of LaGardere Unlimited. "He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn."

Once again, it makes sense for players that are on contracts from the older CBA to become a free agent and re-sign a new deal with that team than it does for the player to extend on their current deal. The players stand to make more money once they become FA and then sign.

That's not disputing Rudolph's story, Howard was always going to be a FA. Howard is committing to signing a long term contract in LA once his current deal expires. And Bynum is the same way, he wouldn't extend his current deal if he stayed in LA either because he and his agent know he stands to make more money during the offseason and re-signing with LA then.

I rather for it to be like this-- Dwight might severely hurt his back next year. If he doesn't then absolutely never in his right mind will he ever give up the Bird rights and subsequently the huge load of money Buss will hand him.

i guess the only valuable info in that article is the comment "explore free agency" and however one wants to interpret that.

does explore simply mean become a FA or explore what other teams have to offer.

What happens if Bynum seriously injures his knee next year? You can't play the injury card on Howard and act like Bynum is Cal Ripken.

Both are fragile equipment to be real about it. It's just the chance that any team that trades for them will have to take.

Of course it makes sense for players to become a free agent, that is not what was disputed. What was disputed was that Dwight WILL re-sign with LA. The agent said that they would explore free agency, meaning that he won't NECESSARILY sign with LA.

In efforts to make it more enticing for players to stay with their teams, ie extra year and raise amounts, they've made it more disconcerting for the fans and front offices because they can't get that max financial benefit unless they wait. Haha cba changes suck.

I don't think guys should trip too hard on Dwight still saying he'll explore, test, look into or whatever the hell it is he wants to do with his chance at free agency. You guys have to remember elite star players only become free agents once during the prime of their careers. Trust me Feagan knows that whatever team lands Howard will be able to pay him more, as a player we can't expect Howard to give up his leverage that quickly after a trade.

Jarrod N Rudolph ‏@JRudolphSports

I was VERY clear that Howard, according to sources, would re-sign with Lakers after 2012-13 season. Makes no sense to extend he'd lose money
