Cant be real. Im see early 2017 season all over again. Haha

Skepticism is certainly warranted. However, the gameplay isn't relying on hot shooting like it was early last season. Ball movement and transition seems to be fueling our offense, and those two things should be foundational in any offense. I think it's telling when you see these stats and still see us miss wide open jumpers. It means we aren't relying on just being able to make shots.
We we're shooting historical 3pt shooting numbers last year that were never sustainable.

He was playing like poop early in the season, but was great last night vs the Lakers.

I agree about shortening the rotation but would rather they give Iwundu the boot.

Can we afford Kemba if we retain Vuc at around 15-20 mil?

Iwundu plays better D than Simmons imo, and even though he can't shoot, he's not taking possessions away with bad turnovers and bad shots. Just misses.

i semi agree that iwundu is the worse player between the 2 of them, although not by much, starters seem to do ok with just 4 capable players on the court. bench's offense hovever, lives and dies by a coin toss at the moment.

you can't fix that by moving isaac to the first unit, or simmons to the first unit, or iwundu to the bench, or iwundu out of the rotation. only real solution I'm seeing is more DJ, fournier, gordon and vuc in the second unit who are the only capable passers on the team.

You can always rotate to never play without at least 1 or 2 starters on the floor.

Exactly my point. This stretch, we are shooting pretty great from 3 as well, but it doesn't seem like the above average percentage from deep is the cornerstone of the good play. It seems like it's leaning more on the ball movement. AG is playing much more unselfishly of late. His "hockey assist" numbers are up. Josh Robbins wrote a great article on that over at The Athletic.

Exactly.

Basically... the formula is working... no need to mess with it at the moment.

Sign Kemba outright first and then approach Vooch with an offer

It would take some tricky cap manipulation, but I think it’s doable if I’m understanding the CBA correctly.

Magic would almost certainly have to renounce Vucevic and Ross’ large cap holds to get far enough under the salary cap to offer Kemba the max.

Then once Kemba signed, they could bring back Vucevic and Ross at 120% of their previous year’s salary in year 1, which would be 15.3M for Vucevic and 12.6M for Ross.

The risk there would be another team offering more than the Magic would legally be able to offer at that point. But if it meant landing Kemba, the Magic would have to do it and deal with it.

Someone with a better knowledge of the CBA might be able to shed some better light on that, but I’m pretty sure that’s how it would have to go.

Welp, that sounds like unsustainable offense just like last season... but it doesn't feel like the same.

Its different this year. Last years offense was off to a good start because AG, Fournier and Vuc were shooting ridiculous over 50% in both FG and 3PT and Vuc and AG dropping 40 point games...each. The offense was a hot mess under vogel. He didn't hold players accountable for not moving the ball. As long as they were hot, he let them play the BS paul George ISO ball.

This year is moving the ball and whoever has the best shot takes it...for most parts. I mean 35 asst on 48FG speak for itself. As long as we continue to play this team ball, dont become our selfish old self and play with effort, we will have a good year. Now if only we could trade for a backup PG or a low-cost starter. We can do better then Grant/Briscoe.

those numbers aren't sustainable but yeah the drop off shouldn't be as hard as last season.
