Agree. Ray Allen doesn't belong in that team of thugs. He's the only likable player they have.

FREE RAY ALLEN!!!

Oh please. So the Lakers ballboy may actually be a Celtics fan, or just a fan of KG. Fine. Why am I supposed to feel embarassed that KG told a Lakers ballboy that he has a better chance of finding Bin Laden than getting an autograph? KG didn't even cuss him out, so if nothing else there I have to believe Bogut when he claimed KG was kinder to the Lakers ballboy than the one for the Bucks (although, I wonder if Bogut "broke the code" there..)

Overall, definitely a witty retort. I loved it.

Harsh...no doubt. I didn't think Zeke was that kind of dude.

Pretty much every NBA player is.

This thread show that most realgm posters aren't autograph collectors/aren't very familiar with the backstage of the league. Players who sign on the road are the exception, not the rule. Stoudemire, Durant, Rose... off the top of my head I cant' think of many other superstars who sign to road fans.

Garnett is known for not even signing much for home fans, let alone road ones. He's one of the toughest signers in the league.

You know you have to mention Dirk if your going to mention any of the players. He always signs and will continue to unless the team security tells him otherwise.

The only time I've seen Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce sign is post game when I sat with the players friends and families. It has spread throughout the entire team and Doc Rivers is about the only one that signs.

I do agree with you about the ballboy.

KG (and any of the other dickish players who refuse to sign autographs/act like dicks to fans) really need to remember why it is that they're able to make millions of dollars a year playing a game. It's the fans, our interest in the game and the money that we spend that pays for their astronomical salaries, so even if you don't really want to take the 5 seconds it would take to sign some kids hat, at least have the decency to not be an ass about it. If it weren't for the fans you'd be a nobody.

If you want the NBA to be a traveling circus, that's great - but guess what, KG is a Celtic and he's back in the building for the first time since the Celtics had a devastating loss a few months back... he takes it seriously. He's supposed to sign an autograph for a Lakers employee? If a player is OK with doing that, fine, but if not, that's fine, too. The League is more fun when everyone isn't best friends.

KG threads on this site are ALWAYS at least 6-7 pages minimum. It's hilarious that people on here legitimately get angry at KG's antics.

P.S Still laughing at KG sonning that ballboy.

Or he could have the decency to turn the kid down politely. The kid's obviously a fan of his, if he really doesn't want to take a few seconds to sign something for the kid then fine, but at least don't be a dick about it. Guess what, it's completely possible to be a fierce competitor without being a prick to some kid working a part-time job.

My main point is that it would be nice if players would show an appreciation for the fans who allow them to do what they do, and to show that appreciation at times other than league/team sanctioned charity and publicity events

Lol KG's a dick to a kid and he has people supporting him? I bet if they had a son and the same thing happened they'd be on RealGM, caps lock activated making a thread about how much of an **** he is and they hope he dies in a fire.

Classless as usual. What did you expect from the worst person (but great player) in the NBA?

Garnett is a pro. He complies with his obligations, including interaction with fans. Other than that, he's the opposite of an attention seeker. He's probably one of the players that donates most to charity but doesn't advertise it. He doesn't make fancy youtube videos. You won't see him tweeting or advertising parties in discos. His interviews are about basketball. You rarely see his wife and kid around. He's always been a private guy who does his job to the best of his abilities, on and off the court, and then has a firewall between that and the rest of his life. I really cant' see what's so wrong with that.

Plus, turning down the kid with a witty remark is a lot cooler than just ignoring him or saying no - especially for the ballboy.

Classic. Says the guy with Kobe "Colorado" Bryant as his avatar. By the way, greatest franchise ever? Last time I checked, the measuring stick is championships, and the Celtics have the most.

Probably the only guy on the team I would dislike regardless is Nate Robinson. I can't stand anything about him -- his game, his personality, his face, anything.

Isn't that because they won the title over LA in '08?

Would yu still despise them if LA somehow in '08 as well?

Garnett is known for not even signing much for home fans, let alone road ones. He's one of the toughest signers in the league. It's absurd to expect him to sign for a ballboy of a road team - or, for that matter, to expect Kobe or any other Laker player to do the same for a Boston ballboy. Ballboys are generally instructed to not bother road players with requests for autographs.

Btw, ballboys are old enough to know better than this, we're not talking about a 5 or 6 years old child here.

The behaviour of most players would simply be to ignore the kid and not even answer.

Garnett gave the kid a witticism and an anecdote he can use for the rest of his life. Actually it may be more valuable than a signed ball he'd eventually sell on e-bay to spend the money in video games, drugs and booze.

..........Really?
C'mon, man.....

Danny Granger autographed a picture for me at a Magic game, once, as I was wearing a Jameer Nelson jersey.

I saw Dwight come early and stay late at NJ and ATL and sign autographs, and give away his jersey and shoes to fans of another team. I'm sure it's not common for players to do this, but I highly doubt it's a once in a blue moon kind of thing.

There's also a video floating around of Dwight and Hedo signing stuff for Raptors fans who were waiting outside of their hotel, this was during a playoff series against them (to be fair, Jameer ignored them). I don't see why someone can't take a couple minutes out of their day to make a moment for a kid/fan who will probably remember it forever.

Using Dwight isn't really the greatest example.

Somehow what? Won? Yes, I would still despise them. And I would gloat like a motherf'er about beating them twice.

who cares.. really... if it wasn't kg who did this there wouldn't even be a thread. realgm goes absolutely wild if LeBron or Garnett breathe too hard. Just watch the basketball and stop trying to turn the NBA into grey's anatomy.

Maybe not, but if Granger and Hedo can do it (both of which signed stuff for fans who were wearing the jerseys of their opponents for the night), then I don't see why anyone else can't.

EDIT: I also found videos of Javale Mcgee, Nick Young, Mike Miller (when he was a Wizard), Sam Cassell, and Blatche all signing autographs for Cavs fans. Also, Shaq signing @ Bucks, and Durant was signing some, too.
