I agree...still keeping my eye on this situation.....

they say he would opt out in order to resign with us again for more money

but i thought he took a paycut to come here anyway? am i missing something?

The most he could sign for last season was 3.2mil. Boston was offering him 6mil per year, so he did take a pay cut. He can either excercise the option on his contract for this season and make about 3.3mil, or he can opt out and resign with miami making 120% of what he made last season and get 4.5% raises each season. Either way i see him resining and for very similar money

Heat are keeping chalmers, picking up the option.

Hmm. RT @SedanoShow: Riley on possible Miller amnesty: "like our team, & we don't like change... Mike is as healthy as he's ever been."

Picking up chalmers option was a gimme. Mike miller, I want him here, but hes getting overpaid. Tbh the smart business decision here would be to just amnesty him. However, Riles is too loyal to do that. He stays. U know who really needs to go? joel anthony, getting paid 4 mil to do absolutely nothing. His money should go to bird. I dunno whos idea it was to sign joel to such a big contract in 2010. I wish we could get rid of him somehow but nobody would trade for him.

Yea i remember Pat and Spo say "we dont need outside help" just BEFORE we added birdman.

My guess is that he doesn't want us too look desperate to Oden/Dally.

Surely we'll try to get a big.

Without or without Joel's deal, the Heat are over the luxury tax apron, so why is it such a concern for you? If the guy who is cutting the checks (Micky) isn't tripping about it, then no one should.

Come the summer of 2014, Miller and Anthony will be 10+ million in expiring deals. Potential trading chips. You'd rather have these guys as those assets(despite the excessive cost), than to pay them to play for another team.

I hope Riley doesn't make the same mistake like he did in 2006-2007. brought back the same team and we ended up getting swept by the Bulls. We need some young blood on the bench and a legit Center.

Totally agree, But im 100% sure Pat remembers that too.

Look, If Miller and Allen are staying, (and it looks like it's 99% they both do) - it means we'll have 2 open roster spots for next year : Juwan Howard and Jarvis Varnado.

If we get Oden (he look old but he's 25 haha) and add an undrafted kid with upside - it might be enough new blood.

If Oden stays healthy and can play even at 70% of what he was in his last year with Portland, we're golden provided that Wade can play the way he did in the regular season again. On top of that, I'm assuming Riles and the Heat expect Chalmers and Cole to improve. Lastly, we have to utilize Bosh better. These improvement will help, I hope, keep our edge.

Problem is it's really hard to trust Oden's knee.

That's whyt i really want to pickup dalembert as well, too share the Center load and provide size insurance.

Rio/Cole
Wade/Allen/Miller
LBJ/Battirt/Miller
Bosh/Haslem/Battier
Dalembert/Birdman/Oden

I'll feel very confident going to battle with this roster. But we need those 2 new decent bigs.

Interesting. RT @SedanoShow: Riley on if Heat had lost Game 6: "Probably" would've changed offseason approach.

Very intersting indeed.

Glad we WON.

We cant bank on oden being healthy or even being here. Im not sure but just by listening to riles, hes not about to use the mmle. Which means we have only the min to use. Can we really find an impact 5 with the min? Not sure if oden will be here or if he is, make an impact. We might just end up with the same team as last year.
