Yeah on 2nd thought no on Porter... but with how little Ernie values draft picks I'm sure that would be included... Nene and the 2015 pick for Smith. Again, I don't think I would, but it's worth considering given Smith's age and potential fit.

Again we'd essentially write off Durant, but we'd be passing up a possibility for a done deal.

Right, Mo Williams would be my target at this point.

I wish we had something to offer Minny for Love that didn't involve Wall or Beal. Seeing the way the Cavs and Warriors are piddling around with Love is ridiculous. They won't even have to deal one of their top two players or take back bad salary in all likelihood and they dragged their feet on including Wiggins? Absurd.

I'm a Love critic too.

I hope he ends up in Golden State or Boston. Hell no do I want him to end up in Cleveland and have another LeBron super team form up in our conference.

Williams is a little overqualified to be a 3rd string PG. What about Luke Ridnour?

Cleveland is only an option because James went back. Before the draft, the report was that the Cavs offered the #1 pick for Love, but Love's camp made it known that he would re-sign in Cleveland.

A fan of Ridnour for the 3rd guard spot, my self. But not for the amount that Orlando just gave him. check him off the list. Gonna have to dig deep for a redemption, or a young project that's inches away from finding his game. Or a trade...IDK.

The cynical Wizards fan in me says Ariza was last season's most effective Wizard. He was the best defender. He was let go and Gortat was very well compensated. Pierce is older, and increased injury risk plus inability to keep up with SF are valid concerns. Another concern I have is will Wittman play veterans too many minutes? Also, the Wizards still need a quick combo guard and they could use a shotblocker with quickness and length.

As good as this offseason has gone I don't know if this past season's good playoff chemistry can be duplicated. How much has the team improved if at all? Is there any guarantee that Wittman won't just play Pierce too many minutes, while Porter and Rice sit on the bench?

Because I think Ariza should have been resigned I give this offseason just a B+ and not an A. Gortat was resigned and both Pierce and Humphries are solid additions who signed excellent Wizards contracts.

you do realize that this team was fools gold last year. Only 44-38 in a historic bad conference. .500 at home. lost to a terrible pacers team reeling in the playoffs. Its not like Ariza led us to a 54 win season

Nothing "cynical" about it! He was definitely the most productive Wizard last season. Most productive per minute and played 2d most minutes behind Wall. Pierce was almost as effective per minute, but he is likely to play @7-800 fewer minutes than Ariza (as he did last year).

On the other hand, we've also added Humphries and Blair, who should be a lot more productive than Seraphin and better than Booker as well.

Also, the Wizards that ended the season was a better team than the one that began it, mostly because of Miller and Gooden. I don't expect them to play the length of a season at the same high productivity level as last year. But they are bound to be better than Maynor, Seraphin, Harrington, etc. who got minutes before they got here.

I think we can be as good as last year, and possibly better.

Well, looks like Love is going to CLE for a combo of Wiggins+Bennett+filler+future 1st. Say they do the deal after Wiggins signs, than the Cavs new lineup is:

PG: Kyrie/Dellavadova
SG: Waiters/Jones
SF: Lebron/Miller
PF: Love/Thompson
C: Varajeo/Thompson

That team needs a young wing, because Lebron is going to have to play a ton of PT (Miller and Jones are not 30 MPG players). Also, Tristan Thompson is going to get OVERPAID simply b/c he's Lebron's agent (probably as a "favor" for bringing Lebron back (same with us signing Martell after maxing Wall). That team is capped out after extending Love, Lebron, Thompson, and Kyrie.

Truth.

Truth what?

Ariza did what he did. He was our most productive player, and we replaced him. We'll have to see whether the moves we made accomplished that.

I wouldn't call our record fools gold, btw. Especially given that we ended better than we started -- because we ended w/ some better players (Miller and Gooden), and they're still with us.

With some luck, we'll do pretty well this year and next year, and then all the old guys will be gone, and it'll be time to rebuild again. We'll have a few pretty good assets to trade (Wall, Beal, maybe Porter, maybe Gortat) to jump start that rebuild.

Unless of course Kevin Durant comes here. Everyone knows that's a lock -- I mean, heck, we hired the guy's high school coach! I mean... could it be more obvious?

I do, too.

The Wizards were better after the AARP crew was added. Wall and Beal arrived as all star weekend and later playoff participants. They will get more star calls. This offseason has seen very solid additions, Pierce, Humphries, and Blair. All three of them bring it. Nene is going to really have to be sharp. Respect and camaraderie should be pretty good, just because of the character and maturity of all three. Gortat has arrived as a legit, good C. Now he's got floor spacers and maulers in the paint for teammates. Meanwhile, veterans aren't the only ones bringing it. Otto Porter and Glen Rice Jr. are having fantastic summers in Vegas. It's all aces.

The Wizards are better most likely. I think Pierce can still succeed at SF. I have faith that Porter and Rice will each contribute.

The only cloud is Ariza was really good.

Hoping Love goes to the Warriors.... He isnt THAT much of an upgrade for them.

Kyrie/Bron/Love is a lot more worrying than a Kyrie/Bron big two.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

100% agree.

Do not want a super team forming in Cleveland right as we finally get a legit good team.

And plus I kind of have a soft spot for GS and want to see them truly compete in the West.

Plus the West got very top heavy this summer, feels like SA, OKC, and LAC became the only teams capable of winning the conference. Wouldn't mind seeing a fourth team get into that mix.

Why on Earth did GS drag their feet about including Thompson with Barnes and Lee? Barnes sucks, Lee is in decline, and Thompson has zero chance of ever being close to a 1:1 swap with Love (and he's only like one or two years younger). Thompson should have been on the table immediately. They get a deal done weeks ago and Cleveland is never a threat.

CCJ's assertion doesn't mean much when it's out of context. Most effective Wizard because he's playing the smallest role of any of the starters. He had the 10th highest usage rate on the team. He was a pure 3 & D player on the court. We're not going to fall apart from losing him. He was absolutely not our best or most important last season, which is what I think CCJ's out of context claim was meant to construe.

Yep. He lead our team many nights, and I don't mean statistically. I mean bringing a losing, deflated team back to win.
