Re: Official General NBA Discussion Thread V2.0
Brooklyn has actually looked pretty good to start the season. I am not sure how long this lasts though as they don't have much depth and its core is pretty old.

Deron Williams is looking 80% of his superstar self in Utah. If he was this healthy in the playoffs we'd have lost in 5 games.

If Ross doesn't show significant improvement this year I would try and make a trade for Fournier. At 22, I see some crazy upside. Move JJ into the starting lineup and give him all of Lou's minutes. I would also consider him an insurance policy if the absolute worst case happens and DD dips after his contract.
I realize I am very far from mainstream thinking on this one...
No you're not. Masai drafted him and Fournier is a better fit in this line-up. He's 6-7, can hit the three, can slash and can be a good back-up to Demar or play a similar attacking game like Demar. He is a true SG and he's younger than Ross. His D is worse and he's not as athletic but it's not a bad ideal.
Masai could probably field out a decent team only using picks late in the first round.

Maybe, but Deron Williams was one of the worst starting PGs in the league last season, and that didn't change in the playoffs. This year Deron Williams is probably top 10.

Even if he is I'm not sure it really moves the needle much for Brooklyn. They are likely a 6-8 seed in the East when it is all done with.

I think this is where human error has to be taken into account. I mean, theres NO way that a person is fast enough to click the button at the EXACT same time a player touches the ball. It seems impossible to time it perfectly (is that how it works? I assume?). The balls need a (possibly) weightless tracking device that works in unison with the clock. As soon as the ball is touched the clock starts ticking. A tracking device would be far more efficient than a person pressing a button. Who knows, that Derek Fisher .4 shot may have never counted. By the time he grabbed it, gathered, turned around and shot it, there's no way he did all that in .4 seconds.

Melo for Gallo's knee&Chandler'hip
Nene for McGee's Leg
Traded Afflalo for Iggy..then Iggy signed for GSW..
It does not sound like a great tracking record to me there, does it?..he should get some blames for that...I mean just image if BC had traded for 'injured' players such like Gallo, Chandler and McGee..thinking those players would be key to the Franchise.
I dont know, I think Masai should get some of the blame for Denver..he traded for unreliable players!
We get it .... you are a BC fanboy.

Does that mean you are a Masai fanboy?
I just appreciate the key pieces he has left us with (Kyle, DD, T-Ross, Amir, Val) though I still have doubt with Casey...if that makes me a "BC Fan boy" then I am guilty as charged!
Looking at the Denver situation, you can see where Masai has messed up ..I think it is clear... it doesnt make him a bad GM or anything..he did rob NY initially with that Melo trade...but the key pieces he acquired over there have not panned out and have been injured.
Masai was in the process of blowing up our team(Gay for expiring contracts and Kyle for Draft picks and prospect); and now we keep hearing about the Great Team he has put together (clearing my throat)...I still wonder how he convinced the Hawks to ship Lou&Bebe for 34 years old Salmons!!

I really love the Payton-Oladipo-Fournier-Frye-Vucevic lineup. I think Orlando is my go-to league pass team this season.

I honestly think they could sneak in this season. I see Chicago, Cleveland, Toronto, Miami, Atlanta, Washington as sure things, and Brooklyn as very likely. I think Orlando could take out Charlotte for the 8th seed. They might need to fire Vaughan, though.

Vaughn is terrible lmao he's a coach u tank with, they are a scrappy team with defensive minded players, when healthy they will be a scary team in the future, bobcats suck this year so who knows they might sneak in
