Probably only one year guaranteed, and the otehrs a team option. I cant see McD committing much money to a guy that was just bought out and when we're in cash saving mode.

Side note, Malcom Thomas was waived. That guy can rebound the ball.
The guy obviously has not lived up to his top 5 draft status, but considering the worst part of his game is shooting, and since we have a proven "shooting coach" in Horny, I think he'd be a great pick-up, and I wouldn't even mind if they "overpaid" for him to ensure he gets here.
But if what Carey says is right, and he has to "clear waivers" then we may never even get a shot at him. Does anyone know for sure how that works? Because if the tweet that says he's signing a multi-year deal with us, but other sources are saying he ash to clear waivers, then how does that work?

If someone picks him up off waivers they are responsible for his remaining salary (including multiple years if there were any, but in this case there aren't.) A team with $3.6M in cap space can currently claim Robinson. There aren't many teams other than the Sixers with that kind of space left this deep in the season though. So I imagine he'll be clearing waivers and we'll see what happens.

Thanks, I just remember reading that he was seeking a buyout. I like the "Trending" in that link. "Pau screams a lot".

It's possible Denver changed their mind hoping someone would pick him up off of waivers and save them some money. Doesn't appear to be the case but still have another day to go.

Re: Official Free Agent Thread: What to do with our cap space
Three reasons I'm not 100% on T-Rob.
A) Dude keeps getting cut by teams and he's not even done with his rookie deal. Time to accept that he's just not that good. Still, we could use some energy and rebounding off the bench, buuuuuuuuuuuut
B) You know how we feel handcuffed by Marcus in terms of personnel moves? As in, "man, you can't trade Marcus or Markieff will pout and his production will go to crap"? What do you think is gonna happen when we bring in their adopted brother? It's gonna be one more piece that ends up being a potential liability for the team as far as trades go.
C) Bringing in Robinson means no minutes for TJ Warren for the rest of the season. Archie/Green/Marcus/T-Rob/Wright; that's your 5 man bench until this offseason. I'd much rather see TJ Warren get some PT next to Marcus than have him sit behind T-Rob for the rest of the year.

It doesn't have to mean no minutes for Warren, but we need defense and rebounding at the four. If we don't sign someone like TRob, then we have Marcus at the four and Warren at the three. Both aren't very good at defense or rebounding. Both can be good at scoring, but is that our main need? I would give minutes for both Marcus and Warren. Whoever plays best tht game, plays most.

We can't see TJ play at 4 even without T-Rob. Markieff played at back-to-back Chicago game 39 mins.

He was available Saturday so if he plays is based entirely on Hornacek.

I understand the chemistry issue of 3 guys feeling they control stuff in the locker room that is an interesting point
In terms of Warren not being able to play, Gerald Green will be gone soon which frees up a rotation spot. Assuming we keep Marcus (even tho i'm in favor of trading him) he presumably will be the backup 3 and I could even see us getting rd of Tucker as well and going with our 3 SF's in Morris Bullock and Warren.
Green and Tucker are both limited and getting older I'd rather take a shot at the younger guys and see what potential they have like you said.
I really feel we need to get Bullock some minutes or he needs to be hitting the D league like Archie did look what happened to his game post D league

Good points especially B.
As for C, Warren may already be back out of the rotation, he didn't get any minutes against Chicago.

Re: Official Free Agent Thread: What to do with our cap space
As clarification for everyone, Robinson was bought out, here's why:
Robinson was on his rookie scale, but his team option for next year was not picked up resulting in the $3,678,360 owed to Robinson for this year being the final year of his contract. There is no reason to drop him to waivers in the hopes that another team picks up his contract, because there isn't a contract past this year.
Now, from the Suns perspective, it is a fine line. Sure, you could probably sign him for pretty cheap to a deal for the rest of this season - but if he blows up you are in a difficult spot this off-season. Conversely, if you sign him now when his value is low to a multi-year deal, you have the opportunity to grab a young (potentially under-valued) asset that could be a perfect bench peice for the next couple of years.

It's a good point. If you offered him, say a 3 year, 10m deal (basically extending his current rookie salary) not only do you still have a very tradeable contract, but you also have a bargain if he becomes a rotation player. We all think Gerald Green is a bargain at 3.5m/season, if T-Rob can give us 8 and 8 as backup PF, he's more than worth it.
