Horrible overpay for a meh player. Mozzy is far more important then TT, and Mozzy should get paid reasonably well since he is a solid center, while TT is a meh role player.

Still better than Eddy Curry's Knicks contract.
Bruh.... thats a zero sum game. Eddys contract is the best in the game because it don't effect current payrolls..it's ova!!!. So Currently, TT is worst contract leader in the clubhouse (individually) . ..... Fear not, a new next bad deal will come soon, really soon.
Cheers.

I know it's counter-intuitive because he sometimes looks like a truly great rebounder, but there's years worth of numbers and observations backing up that he's not near the level you think he is. In the playoffs, he was outrebounded by guys like Draymond, Gasol, Duncan, etc--guys who aren't super rebounders (at lost not anymore for the last two). And per minute he pulled down substantially fewer boards than guys like Drew Gooden, David Lee, Bogut, Tyson Chandler, etc. Per minute he was 36th in last year's playoffs, 11th among starting players.
Elite rebounders like D12 and DeAndre aren't just a little better than him--they pulled down almost 25% more rebounds than him. That blows his #s out of the water, and comparing him to them is like comparing Diaw or Batum or some other mediocre rebounder to him. He could certainly get better but right now he's just an offensive rebounding specialist, isn't good at D rebs despite years of coaches working with him.

Yeah if that team didn't have LBJ on it, Paul would get laughed out of the room. That's the problem with this. Even with all the leverage Paul had, he held his client out through all of training camp, alienated his client's relationship with the fans, put his biggest client is a very difficult position, and got him $2 million more over a 5 year period.

This is a good move until it leads to the Cavs losing a player because they are being cheap if you ask me....Tristan, while overrated last year, is a vital part of this team

Awful overpay. Still waiting for the league to actually look into LeBron as an agent. He basically got the man paid because he is the GM of that team, the agent, etc. Cavs salary capped is screwed, even with the upcoming jump.

I wonder how crazy Cleveland's tax bill is going to get in future years once the repeater penalty kicks in.
AV's contract isn't guaranteed in 2017-18. That's $10 million coming off the books. The cap will be at $109 million Mozgov is going to have to take less than the max for them to get out of the tax that year. We'll see.

They where barely above water before this signing (made a small profit last year), the TT signing will be a huge cap hit to a team already above the cap, I honestly doubt he double dips... you're talking like 60+mill for 2 people over 1 year?
Keep in mind he got creamed in 2008 too.. So I would be shocked if they keep Mozgov.
No way they give up Mozgov after sending two 1st round picks, they value him highly..
The cavs will be pushing hard to move Andy in the offseason. That will clear about 10M off their cap next year. Then they will give moz around 18M. So it's not too crazy.
I'm not paying Mozgov $18 million per unless it's a two-year deal.

You do realize all the other non tax-paying owners get a portion of Gilbert's luxury tax bill, right?
With the cap rise next summer the Cavs will be probably one of the very few teams paying substantial tax. Everyone will have cap room next summer except a few teams.

What an absolute terrible collection of messageboard comments. Just an abomination ... a disgrace. Looks like I'll have to rely on the barber & coffee shops to get my knowledgeable banter. "Flexibility" is just a crappy catchphrase that means jack when you already have enough good players.
All these fans wanting to win the "contract season". Look ma, we got a great deal on our PF. Do we get a ring for that?

He might be overpaid but TT was the guy I most feared in the playoffs, his offensive rebounds and hustle gave the Bulls so many problems more than Love would have.
This might mean Cavs probably wont be able to keep Mozgov

Who are the going to lose? Kyrie/ 5 years, Love/5 years, Shump/4 years, and TT/5 years. I'm assuming LBJ is staying for years as well. Mozgov, JR and Delly are the only players they could lose who contribute more than an average MLE role player. Mozgov is a bit of a concern but I wouldn't give him a five year max deal due to his age. He's said he really values playing for winning team. JR isn't getting a big offer from another team. While I wouldn't want to lose Delly, if another team offers him something absurd, you shake his hand and congratulate him.

Thompson's agent is a joke. He could have gotten this deal done months ago.
Anyway, congrats to Tristan. That's a great contract for him It's an overpay for the Cavs, but it doesn't really matter as long as Lebron is around.

Welp, when they've made the Finals 5 times in a row we will get to see if your theory of a slippery slope is correct.
Yup, titles are bought, not earned !!!

Thats kind of my point...more than likely this is not going to affect the makeup of the team and Thompson was a pretty important piece to the team last season. The Cavs don't have cap space even without this deal so really the only thing that matters for the Cavs if they are willing to pay, which they apparently are, is getting Thompson on the court.

TT is overpaid but he is also a lot better than his raw numbers indicate. He outplayed every big bar Greene in last years playoffs (head to head not talking about series that didn't involve us). Milsap was probably on par as well.
Most of these guys are considered better than TT but he wasn't even that far off Greene and won most big battles.

Lol my lord ....do you think he ..his agent or any other half witted NBA player gives a damn about "alienating the fans" relative to getting paid?
Go ask Eric Bledsoe (who doesn't play on the cavs btw) if he's happy with Rich Paul representing him ....
What "difficult situation" was lebron in?
It's just mind boggling reading some of these hyperbolic sensationalized post
