Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXXI
Bulls looking to unload salary to sogn Wade. Gooden for Dunleavy? Gives us a shooter off the bench behind Porter. Helps Chicago but cripples Miami, so it the conference impact should be a wash. Actually might help us since we'd have 4 games against a lottery bound Heat squad.

Well I would do gooden and eddie for grant and dunlevey,
or help the heat unload Mcbob by gooden and eddie for Mcbob and richardson.
we get a young guard either way and a vet to help us out at the end of the bench.

I like both of those deals. But I think I like your first one the most.

The first one definitely helps us more and hurts the heat much more. I like grant, let him and Burke duke it out, maybe some competition will up their games. Dunleavy is a nice guy to have with brooks on the staff, he won't let him steal minutes from kelly but he will be used if needed.

The Bulls just acquired Grant; why would they trade him? They wouldn't.
The Heat just loves Josh Richardson; why would they trade him? They wouldn't.

PIF be more positive bro! some teams are willing to give up assets to clear cap room, young players are assets. totally reasonable that they attach a youn guy to move a contract that they really want to move.

I'm pretty scared thinking I'm going to wake up any day this week to news of a Gortat Gay swap.

Sorry, Gambit, but no. There is no chance whatever that Miami deals Josh Richardson. He's a terrific talent on a cheap salary. Good GMs don't just "attach" someone like that, they build their core with him.
As to Grant, as you can see if you are up to date, the Bulls traded older players -- Dunleavy and Calderon -- to make room for Wade.
If you want good players like Josh Richardson, you get them by being smart enough to draft them. Teams don't give away guys like that.

I know he got moved already but pif seriously it happens, people add young talent and picks to dump old all the time. It happens, I know you're on a rage right now because you don't like the team but just relax and enjoy summer league ok! watch kelly, white, and eddie dominate.

Might need tweaking, but you get the idea. We balance the roster, the Kings upgrade at PF and PG, Milwaukee can bench Monroe and give the keys to Delly.
Mahnimi/Smith/Gooden
Morris/Nicholson
Gay/Porter
Beal/Sato/Oubre
Wall/Burke
Not saying I'd do it, just trying to figure out how it might be possible.
Playing around with the checker and found another twist on Gortat for Rudy Gay:
Wizards trade: Gortat
Wizards receive: Gay
Kings trade: Gay
Kings receive: Hawes, Lamb, CHA 1st
Hornets trade: Hawes, Lamb, 1st
Hornets receive: Gortat
Is that package better for the kings than MCW/Henson? In a vacuum I might say yes, but considering Sacto's PG situation, I think they'd probably prefer the Milwaukee package. Worst part of course is we help Charlotte, but I'm not finding much else that works under the cap.
And again, I'm not necessarily calling for this move - just anticipating what it might look like if Ernie went this route.

I'm not in a rage. I'm in the Hudson River Valley enjoying the sights and visiting old friends. I'm completely relaxed.
Of course young players get traded, so do old players. So do players who are in between young and old. But you were looking for Miami to "throw in" a guy they are building around, which indicates (if it's not too blunt) you have no idea what you're talking about. Really the same thing goes w/ Grant, whom you were sure the Bulls would throw in -- even though they just went to the trouble of acquiring the kid as the young point guard they're going to try to develop.
Since you made free to give me advice, Gambit, I'll give you some. You're smart and you care. Try to learn something as a way of adding value to that mix. That way when you write what you think it'll be worth reading.

OMG. Please tell me neither of you would ever ever want Gay for Gortat. However it was accomplished. I think that trade might do it for me. It might really mean I had to stop being a Wizards fan altogether.

Not that EG would ever do it, but the Aminu/Davis package would be a lot more defendable that Rudy Gay in return for Gortat.

Yeah, maybe -- if we got Aminu and Davis. But that deal still got us Rudy Gay. The other details don't matter to us.

Just split it into 2 deals. Let the Wolves and Kings swap Rubio and Gay. The Wizards and Blazers could swap Gortat for Ed Davis and Aminu. Usually you don't want to be sending out the better player - but they would be filling more of a need(PF and a little SF) and would be getting 2 younger players in exchange.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXXI
Verbal,
i like Davis and Aminu, but our front court is getting very crowded and while that trade would allow Davis to be the backup to Mahinmi, Aminu would make the Nicholson signing useless.
I really think Gortats value is at its highest leading up to the 2017 draft. Teams with needs at the 5 are going to cringe at the idea of a FA C class led by a 32 y/o Bogut and a 33 y/o Zaza.
Next summer the following teams will need a C and want to be competitive:
Dallas has Anderson, Powell, 1st
Charlotte has Zeller (SnT), Kaminsky, 1st
Boston has Rozier, Hunter, Mickey, picks
Houston has Onuaku, Dekker, Beverly, etc.
Bucks have Henson, Brogdon, Ennis

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXXI
The Wolves won't trade for Gay. And we aren't swapping Gortat for Aminu and Davis.
What is likely to happen, however, now that Gay has requested a trade, is that we will do exactly the stupid deal described first: trade Gortat for Gay. I wouldn't be surprised if we give them a pick too, even a R1 pick.
First it was sad, then it was comical, and now finally it's completely sickening -- the mess Ted Leonsis & Ernie Grunfeld have made of the Washington Wizards.

Do you mean Rudy Gay, the Baltimore native, the former lottery pick, that we've had our eye own for quite some time? He's both a veteran, and at 29, younger than Gortat, you see we've gotten younger...

A Rico trade for Rudy Gay when we definitely don't want him? Does that ever take me back...
