Billups HC and Hoiberg GM would be cool.

Well, at least I wouldn't miss the constant bellowing I hear whenever I watch a game.

I wonder how long the honeymoon period will last this time?
Could this be the missing piece for our eventual championship come June?

Fantastic surprise.

Now move the fodder Thibs accumulated and install a modern gameplan that utilizes our players.

Well, you guys got your wish, enjoy. I expect Hoiberg's availability and relationship with Glen a big reason why the move was made now even if Hoiberg doesn't get hired till after the season(save some money by waiting but possibly having verbal agreement in place).

I do feel slightly bad for Thibs...especially due to timing...I wanted him to succeed here so badly but it was clear that it wasn't working. For a change, he did actually look pretty happy in the press conference after the match today, joking and smiling with reporters and then immediately hearing the news that he is fired directly from Layden ( someone whom he brought to Wolves) must suck...His relationship with KAT was also apparently getting better recently, so the timing of this all must definitely suck for Thibs. The guy literally breathes basketball, now he might probably never coach in NBA again.

Good riddance. Burnt this franchise down significantly with his impatient bull.

Wonder how long before Towns asks to be traded. He probably won't win 48 games again in Minnesota(possibly not even be on another .500 or better team in Minnesota) and it's quite possible by the start of next year he'll be playing for his 4th(currently on his 3rd) head coach in his first 5 seasons in the league.

I always thought of them as a packaged deal

Thats how they came in (joint presser even) and and it seemed Layden actually worked under Thibs in a way which makes it even more interesting he was one of the ones to drop the hammer.

It's almost as awkward as Rambis having to write that essay a few days/weeks before he got canned.

Wow, yesterday night I watched the euro friendly Lakers game, woke up clicked realgm and WTF? Midseason? still in the playoff picture? I mean I want him gone, sure, but in this way? And how did Layden survive this? Or is this a tank move?
Don't know what to make of this, but I'm pretty sure Thibs NBA career is over now. I'm kind of exited what Ryan can do now, but I'm not so exited about Hoiberg chances being our next HC.

I kind of agree, I don't think Thibs was the answer here but he is a much better coach than Fred will ever be. I don't want Fred as GM either, he is suited for the college game. If I owned the team, I would flat out tell him to pursue a college job. It is the best advice anyone could give him.

Glen's first move needs to be finding the right person to fill the front office role that Thibs had and then letting that person make any and all basketball related decisions starting with who the head coach is. Glen has done enough damage, that said I doubt Glen gets out of the way. Country club 2.0 here we come!

Hallelujah! My birthday present came early!!

Glad to see Ryan Saunders get a shot as interim coach. Yes he may have gotten his first job due to nepotism, but he was kept on the Wizards staff 2 seasons after Flip left and again was kept on staff here after Flip passed away.

Now with 10 years experience as an assistant and growing up with a father who was at a time a very successful X's and O'e coach, he has a great background to succeed on an interim basis.

I am really surprised because many fans here blame Taylor as one who cares only about money invested in Thibs, they say that he has no courage to make changes etc...

Now Thibs is fired. Saunders is interim. But the real question for me is GM figure. If Layden can make timely moves before deadline, improve our roster then transition process will be much faster, painless. This roster is very poor constructed:

1) we have 3 PGs this season, and no one on guaranteed contract next season.
2) we have invested in Gibson-Dieng-AT 35mil but last two barely play, while Gibson seems to be declined, Saric is not happy with his role and minutes.
3) we dont have quality 3pt shooter at wings, moreover we waived Nunnaly. AT playing backup SF makes me cry. Rose has to play and defend bigger wings.

Layden has a lot of work, while Ryan will be on spotlights during games, Scott needs to do his job done.

P.S. I am okay with losing some games if we develop this season KBD and Okogie. But we need to revise whole development process and it takes time. So I dont expect here many changes.

Weird timing, but I guess mediocrity isn't going to cut it. Either we'll go tank-mode and trade away Rose and Taj, or Glenn thinks we will still make the post-season and become buyers at the deadline. I reckon Rose could fetch a FRP with his cap-friendly deal. Anyone wanting to challenge GSW like Houston or Boston should be all over him.

I hope Ryan does well and Joerger becomes available after the season. Most people seem to dislike Hoiberg, but I don't know why. Jimmy **** us too and he started off decently, despite having a **** roster (LaVine, Markkannen, Dunn all injured). What's the main issue?
