Getting way ahead here
But if we somehow stay top 3 in the east during this gauntlet, we will be in a great position to finish 1st in the east.
Don't know how likely that is. All I know is we are 1 funky lil jumpshot away from being 7-0 and that is with a perfect preseason. Looks like donovan has found a rotation that works and a lot of the so called good teams that were supposed to be so much better than us coming into the year, are not looking so hot.
Hoping for the split with the sixers.

DDR is the baked potatoe/rice that's dependable and fills you up steadily throughout the game while Zach is the lava cake/gelato that elevates the meal but it's sporadic.
That's how the season has been thus far. Reckon a small part is due to Zach's thumb injury.
At this rate DDR is playing and if the Bulls are at least third or fourth in the East, he's going to be in the ASG.

P.s. I still was an early booster from bringing you to the Bulls, so at least there’s that.
Hilarious post. For some reason I imagined you saying that in a confessional booth. As penance maybe you should continue referring to him as Mr. DeRozan going forward.

Derozan & Lavine are tied in leading the team in scoring.
It's like having 2 Zach's out there.

Went to see the list to see who's above them.
Found it hilarious that Tatum is a sliver of a spot above them while taking 7 EXTRA shots per game compared to Zach

Re: How overpaid is Derozan, and will it matter?
They were talking about him today on WSCR, and lamented that he was our best ballhandler. Hes a good ballhandler, but he shouldn’t be the best. I wonder if that can be overcome by incredible unselfishness as a team. But I do think without him we would be looking at the guys and wondering again why the offense sputters for long stretches. He is an incredible safety valve because consistent offense will need that nice playmaker to get over, otherwise production can lack, and execution gets funky. And I didn’t really understand he was going to be that guy for us. We all are familiar with him, but I didn’t quite look at him in that light, despite being previously surprised at what he was doing in San Antonio

With Zach’s injury DeRozan is now the best offensive player and maybe should he go to guy if he keeps playing at this level. To be clear I don’t think he is better than a healthy Zach, but he looks better than the current Zach.
His contract is a bargain if he plays at 80 percent of what he is doing recently for the rest of the season.

Absolutely- right now he's basically putting up (unsustainable) MVP numbers. But when he dips, Zach should heal and Vuc will be better.

DeRozan creates a very good offensive balance for this team in a way that I don't think he really ever did for the Spurs, piecemeal as they were. Like the man in the orthopaedic shoes, I am pleased to be standing corrected.

This team needs to play like the 05 Sox. Just peak years for everyone at the right time. DDR can be the Jermaine Dye of the group. He will dip for sure, or will become the most surprising MVP ever.

Derozan won’t keep scoring 30+ every night, but he can settle in and average in mid 20s. His ability to get to the free throw line has clearly carried over to the Bulls and he no longer draws the opponent’s best perimeter defender. I was thinking he might average around 18 ppg before the season, but I’m thinking 24/25 now. The way he is playing seems substainable for the most part.

He’s picking up the slack for now, and it seems to be the plan from Billy. Its either that, or let Ball force up more shots, and we don’t really want that. But again, Zach might not get better at all this year. So prepare for DDR to keep the accelerator on the floor. Keep in mind we also lost shots from Pat. Until the Bulls can pick up another guy that can dribble into good shots (Coby?), this is how it has to be. The Bulls have to pick up the pace some though, which has to figure into their plans at the deadline

I think Zach will eventually rest. Maybe once the schedule eases up, Coby comes back and Vuc starts scoring. Right we just can’t afford to go through these next dozen or so games with what we are getting from everyone else right now.
