Sad but true. I remember Curry missing a lot of time due to his ankles. Maybe Herro can have a similar health resurgence.

Unfortunately I doubt it, he’s no curry in any aspect physically or on the court

I dont mean to compare their talent. Curry just popped in to my head. Before he was super duper generational boy, he was broken ankle boy.

Outside of the injuries the other aspect is Herro also legit cannot keep on any muscle. Gains weight every summer to just end up back to where he started after his first injury.
Miami / Chicago / London

Facts--makes you wonder if he's better served in the offseason training for flexibility and durability than he is trying to bulk

Don’t get too excited because losing tonight to the Pistons to split this SUPER cake homestand before heading out on a tough 2 game trip is the exact type of thing the Miami Heat do but……..if this 10-3 stretch isn’t a fluke and we’re actually super locked in the Cavs schedule over the next 11 is brutal compared to our and they’re without Mitchell for the next 3 at minimum (Celtics, @ Hawks back to back, Wolves) AND we play them 2 times in the next 10. If we can go like 8-2 over this next stretch of 10 while beating the Cavs both times we have a legit shot at snatching the 3rd seed.
Next 10:
Pistons 3x
Cavs 2x
Mavs
Thunder
Nuggets
Wizards
Pelicans

Hadn't put one of these out for a while, here's the Heat's stats sorted by calculated net rating (calculated ORTG-DRTG). After a horrific start statistically for Rozier, he's finally only doing bad vs absolutely horrible! Hope he can stay healthy and end up a positive NetRating by the end of the season. It would mean he's finally fitting and looks to be a good semi-long term (3-4 years?) player for Miami.

Of the 54 20+ ppg players this year (min 20 games), 24 of those 54 have a TS% of .600 or higher and 8 of them have a TS% of .560 or lower. Porzingis has been dramatically climbing in his TS% each year for the past 6 seasons (he's currently 28).

I think most on here see benefit to one of Herro or Rozier leading the bench unit. The case can be made that keeping Duncan’s synergy with starters and Rozier’s rim pressure in the starting unit provides ideal balance.
But, is the fact that Herro is missing all of this time heading into the home stretch potentially enough justification for him to come off the bench rest of season (manage his minutes/injury)?

I think the team is milking his injury. They know they don't need him to win because Duncan has been great with the starters. Also its giving Rozier much needed reps with as much on ball as possible something that may not happen with Herro in the game beside him. So this is strategically a way to get Rozier comfortable quicker than if both of them were in the lineup. Also with Herro being injury prone whether its by accident, which it seems that it always is, perfect way to give his tendons, muscles, bones a rest heading into the end stretch here. Miami is hell bent this year on making sure all their guys are healthy going into the playoffs. You can tell with how long they keep guys off the court coming off injuries, they haven't really seen what it all looks like together in the playoffs for the past 5 years. I think this is the end game here were decisions will be made next offseason on the direction of the team. They want to give themselves the best chance at seeing it all come together to feel better about that decision.
I say this to get to my final point, that Herro won't be going to bench. You do not pay a 6th man 30M to take up that much of your cap space. So this is it right here, they want to see this build to its end result, bringing Herro off the bench is a next year problem but most likely traded.

This is a little confusing but I’m always happy for PG depth after having none all season. He actually crossed my mind for us when he was bought out but I didn’t think it would happen after getting Wright and wanting to make Herro Martin and JRich all PGs

Wow this is very interesting. Is Herro more hurt then originally led on?
Depth at a position Miami just had an issue with, now there is a backup defensive PG and backup offensive PG. Another chess piece for Spoelstra.
