Re: [Build A Team 4.0] Discussion Thread Part II
I updated Google Teams Doc even with the recent trade. There may be a few players not listed but if so it has to be less than 5. I'm reviewing all trades on the Main Draft Info Thread which involved player swap to be sure of players represented by the correct rosters.
Once again please do not later as they are now in Depth Chart format....

Was Przybilla already picked? I want to clarify because last BAT I got him in the 5th round. I know I reached last time but I doubt he'd fall this far.

No one's forgotten about him. His contract is just scaring everyone away.

Przybilla ruptured his patella (again) in march 2010 while trying to recover from surgery that caused him to miss a good portion of last season. He is unlikely too be available for the start of the upcoming season and may actually miss at least a good portion (if not all) of it was the last I heard.

I like what you've done recently, as your team looked very odd with Tyrus slated as a SF and LeBron at the 2. You definitely improved your team's make-up, that is for sure. And you're left with a very solid squad all-around. Good depth, and good players to surround LeBron with, for the most part.
That being said, I'm not sold on VC working well with LBJ, to be honest. I think, though VC is old enough now to defer, his game is too similar to LeBron's to be truly effective next to him. I think your team could really benefit from going out and getting a real shooter; someone who can hang out around the perimeter and really benefit from LeBron's dribble-drive penetration.
I love the West/Thomas combination. Those are two guys who complement each others' games perfectly. And Emeka will benefit greatly from LeBron's superb court vision. Now you desperately need a quality backup PG, as IMO Calderon is only utilized to his fullest when being apart of a 1-2 PG punch. Luckily there are still tons of effective guards left on the board. Then get some insurance for Emeka's injury history, and you've got yourself a high-grade contender. Nicely done!

Ah alright. I wasn't sure if injuries carried through in this because last BAT it did not.I guess I'll have to pick up another back up Center later on.
Are you sure about injuries not getting carried through in the last BAT? Doesn't make sense at all if we allowed it to be ignore in the last BAT and definitely I'm making a ruling now (since I think pretty much everyone has gone along with the idea that it did) that it does carry through.
Not sure who may have said it did not in the last BAT but it would be the biggest reason someone like Greg Oden would drop and why no one would pick Captain Krispy Kreme. Injuries HAS TO be carried into it since it impacts the ability of the guy to perform. I mean if injuries aren't carried over then why consider age and being slowed by it (Vince Carter, Brand, etc.)? What about bad contracts (Brand, Turkoglue, Calderon, etc.)? What about off court problems (Arenas, etc.)? what about people that have had their value diminished by a combination of the above including injuries? Injuries have to be taken into account or it makes this BAT insane since why take out injury but leave all the other negative things that impact a players value and instead make this a pure fantasy (at their best) type of a BAT...which makes it a completely different type of BAT (an all time best team type of a BAT).
PS: Not ranting at you...just making sure that we don't have a rule that doesn't make sense in place.

Maybe I misunderstood because of the simming last BAT. I thought they said that in the sim any injured players would not start injured. And I thought that was for all BAT. Not just for simming. Maybe certain players have higher injury risk, but I didn't think they started injured. But again, I could be wrong and also confused because of the simming in the last BAT but is not in this one.

No problem, but it looks like I wasted a pick for nothing than.
Don't worry about it. With the influx of adding this years draft class to the mix, you should find plenty of doable guys at that position even during the free-for-all round to round out the roster. Last season I had 2 guys that could have contributed on my team that I took with no. 14 and 15. And only the first 9 or so guys will likely play anyways.

I had him pegged as my coach since round 4 and had no idea anyone else would pick him before round 10. He was PERFECT for my roster. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
I had 3 coaches in mind. Passed on one because I wasn't sure how he'd be in the future and the other was a young guy, but I didn't want to put a team like this on the shoulders of a head coach without much experience. I think Adelman was the perfect fit for me.
What do you think about my team?
PG: Derrick Rose
SG: MIckael Pietrus/Delonte West
SF: Wes Johnson/Richard Jefferson
PF: Zach Randloph
C: Greg Oden/Marcin Gortat
HC: Rick Adelman
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
On paper this team looks like a contender with very talented players at each position and a good bench that compliments the starting five. However, questions lie in a few areas. First and foremost, a lot is dependant upon the health of Greg Oden as the starting center. Although Marcin Gortat is a competent backup fully capable of filling in as a starter should Oden continue to prove brittle, Gortat would probably not suffice as a starting center for a championship caliber team. Secondly, the black-hole tendencies of Zach Randolph could prove to disrupt the offensive cohesion and continuity. Wes Johnson can stretch the defense, so I can understand why you went with him over the veteran Richard Jefferson at SF. But is there enough outside shooting? Johnson and Mikael Pietrus can both knock down an outside shot but they do tend to be a bit streaky.
This team shows balance between the halfcourt game centered around Randolph/Oden and the uptempo game centered around Rose, Pietrus, Johnson, and RJ. Also a nice mix of two-way players as well. Seemingly built to win now and in the future and with good cap flexibility, I'd have to say this was a good job of GM'ing. I'm am a bit bitter that you stole Rick Adelman from under my nose (thought for sure you'd go with a Byron Scott, Flip Saunders, George Karl type but it's all good.
Flip chokes, B.Scott has a tendency of wearing out his welcome, and Karl's health was in doubt. I couldn't go with him. I agree with 90% of the things you said. Zach showed me something new in Memphis and turned into quite the leader and ball mover. But a lot really depends on Oden. When he was healthy, he was dominant for the Blazers. Problem is we all know the guy didn't stay healthy. How far this team goes, depends on how healthy he is. We can get to the playoffs without him, but can't win a championship without him.
As far as Rick go, I was reading stuff about him 2 days prior to the pick. I wanted to make sure I had a whole scouting report on him before I made the pick. After doing a background check, he was the best fit for the team.

I am Ra, can you rate my team on a scale of 0/30? I love the lack of competition in the Northwest Division. Only team that I would have to compete with for the division title is the Blazers.
