Boucher could easily be a starter on this roster.

Yea, but it sucks to be giving up picks to tear it down. Usually, when you are breaking up a championship core, you are trading away Pippen, Kukoc, Buechler, Longley etc and getting picks back in the process. We were pick neutral trading Jrue, pick neutral trading KP, and now sending away two seconds to get off Niang.
Can't always have it all, man.
It doesn't always work out so perfectly that you can move guys who are aging/injury prone and manage to save tons of $ on the tax bill *and* get picks. Sometimes it's one or the other.
Also, comparing this to the Bulls teams from like 30 years ago is comparing apples to oranges. It's a very different league today..a vastly, different CBA, etc.

John Hollinger
I like the Boucher deal quite a bit, best non-Horford big available.

Any word on what are the specific 2nds the Celtics are sending out??
We have a choice 2026 "best of" second that is the highest pick out of NOP/NYK/MIN/POR that looks like it's going to be the Pelicans second somewhere in the 30s, I would hope we didn't send that 2026 pick out just to dump Niang.

Like it a lot, much better fit at PF than Niang

Will Amari Williams get a two way over Luis or Norris? Or will he get a regular roster spot?
KeithSmithNBA
RJ Luis is signed to a two-year two-way contract. He’ll fill the Celtics open two-way spot. Boston’s other two current two-way players are Miles Norris and rookie Max Shulga.
Chris Boucher will be on a vet mnimum deal and will fill the spot opened up by trading Georges Niang to Utah.
Boston has one open roster spot and is about $7.8M under the second apron.

I thought that was a misprint.
It said that we were
getting two 2nds.

Celtics are subtly tanking so I would assume Amari Williams gets a regular roster spot.

I think Amari is out in the cold, for the moment.
Telling, that he hadn't signed the Two-Way deal.

True.
Going from Niang to Boucher is an upgrade.
Cs just added a few more wins in the regular season.

Yeah I mean, he's probably one of the better value contracts in the league at this point - not counting rookie contract guys, of course.
He's a PF/C who can stretch the floor. He's a vet, has been around for awhile..been a solid role player for a long time..on some good teams.
It shows something that Toronto kept him around for as long as they did, considering most bench players get moved around from team to team a lot.
And analytics like him too..had a BPM of 2.3 last season..very high for a bench player and very high considering he was on a lottery team. For his career, his BPM is 1.0..1 or higher is very good for a bench player.
He is getting up there in age..but there's at least a chance he could stick around as a contributor off the bench the next time we're trying to contend for a title again, in the 26-27 season.
Basically, he's like Niang..both same age, except Boucher is on a much cheaper contract..

Funny thing is, if tatum is back by march, this is the best team in the east, im not even kidding
Basically substitute zinger and holiday for simons and boucher
Zinger barely played and holiday missed significant time as well , boucher is a similar style player to zinger.
We will see, Top 5 at worst…
East is still crap overall
