Nope. Just ugly **** that makes no sense in the description of the arena.

I wanted more of the brick look of Miller Park, but I think the zinc will look pretty good.

It could look worse.

Curious tho. Does zinc change color/look over time like copper does?

You've been a debbie downer continuously in this thread. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just don't understand your negativity throughout this whole process.

My main posts in this thread have been about the stupid, fugly zinc panels, so in that sense, yes, I guess I have been negative. Get rid of those panels and I'm not complaining (unless it's about those also stupid loft seats that I can't believe people are actually paying for considering the price and what you get.)

I'm withholding judgment on the zinc until I see it. I like they are doing something unique but it could be gross depending on how it ages.

My guess is they don't do any kind of implosion. They'll go in with wrecking balls and then sell off the usable materials.

No. It does tarnish and discolor slightly though as it corrodes. Most pennies minted after 1980-something are almost entirely zinc, so I guess it;ll look like an old penny after time? Idk.

ETA Which is too bad- I love the way copper stuff looks when its all oxidized and green. Thatd be awesome.

http://dailyreporter.com/2017/08/17/bid-date-for-bradley-center-demolition-pushed-back/

"...The Bradley Center is scheduled to be demolished within 12 months of the Milwaukee Bucks’ move into their new 714,000-square-foot arena..."

The close proximity of the BC to adjacent structures precludes an implosion-type demolition, or the use of any small-scale thermonuclear devices.

FYI, the zinc panels cost $300 million of the project's total budget.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

You're kidding right?

I thought the whole idea of using zinc was that its a cheaper than other decorative materials, and that it's practical because zinc absorbs the corrosives first before the steel underneath does, thus saving wear-and-tear on the steel.

Well, this could get ugly. Watch we'll have to replace it every 5 years.

I'd like to see where you got that figure.

also this:

One of the most-asked questions about the project is will the zinc panels change color over time like copper or other metallic building finishes.

Callahan's answer: Nope. "No noticeable change with age," he said.

Update: Denver Callahan of mortensen construction says, "there is no noticeable change in color with age". So it'll stay that beautiful reddish brown forever!

zinc ages ugly if you look up close but you can't really see it from far away, it's fine for roofing and panels.
It's only an issue for handheld items like old cameras etc, Leica used to make some zinc cameras and everybody is chasing the brass versions instead.

The base VM Zinc panels are actually an alloy of 99.995% zinc, with trace amounts of copper and titanium.

The material used (see https://mgmcgrath.com/portfolio/milwaukee-bucks-arena/) is indicated to have a custom patina, such as VM Zinc's coated "Pigmento" materials: http://www.vmzinc-us.com/zinc-basics/surface-colors/pigmento.html

Longevity depends both on the installation methods, as well as on the materials used.

I wasn't a fan of the zinc but it looks good in real life. The renderings didn't do it justice.
