Love for "Chriss Dudley and Warren, maybe the Bucks pick" - (forget Hill just Love) - would be similar to when the Warriors took Ellis (a position of depth on the team) and traded for Bogut. Rebalanced the roster. Got a bridge player - I think Bogut was only in GSW from 13 to 16. If the Suns could swing Hill too for Chandler - Suns also get the PG that is a bridge for Okobo, one year deal. Good shooter, defender, Love, rebounder, passer, shooter.

Ball & Deng - would just eat up a ton of cap space and I have zero idea who would go the Lakers since Ball/Deng make 25m

You're exactly right. Bridges (term, not the player) are what this team needs. We need to start to win. This move alleviates our logjam of young talent and gives everyone their spots. Bender is our future PF, JJ is our future (current) SF, and Okobo is (hopefully he pans out) our future PG.

Hill/Okobo
Book/whatever
JJ/Bridges
Love/Bender
Ayton/whatever

We get competitive to attract future FAs when Hill and Love are aging, while still getting our now trimmed core the playing time with Vets they need. Everyone is so worried about playing our young guys to get them experience, but losing games because we don't have the talent to win isn't the experience they need. This is exactly the kind of trade we need. We need to be relevant while remaining.

Looking at the trade machine, it would be hard to pull off. Need to include Chandler, Duds, and Knight along with the actual pieces, Chris and Warren just to make the numbers work. Probably need another team involved. But if we can pull off Hill, who is a steady low maintenance PG who can run our offense and Love who steps in and immediately makes us better, we make a run at the playoffs and don't look back for a long time.

Remember that if the Suns release Ulis Reed and Williams, they are 16m under the cap. So the Cavs send out 44m , they only need to take back 28m or so as the Suns can take more

Love and Hill make the Suns much more competitive - if this is “the Suns trade” today

Good call, didn't factor in some of those moves. But yeah, this is actually a nice balance between staying young and trying to win and be competitive now. Both those guys come off the books in time for Bender, JJ to get extended and once we get those guys, Book can sign his extension and we no longer need to worry about signing garbage/unproven FA's and hope they pan out. (see: Aaron Gordon and Van Vleet)

Talk about some major improvements to our 3 point shooting woes from last season.

If we did nab Hill and Love, it would make me think McD wasn't confident about his chances of landing guys like Smart, VanVleet, Ariza, Ersan, etc.

Or didnt want any of them.

Starting to think that if something does go down, it'll include Ball going to Phoenix and not a deal with the Cavs.

If this trade happens and McD somehow moves Chandler Dudley Chriss and Warren (with pick) for Love and Hill - suns could still get Lance Stephenson for Kerrsed :)

Though my guess the Cavs will want a lot less coming back

Deng to a third team with a pick from Lakers and a pick from Suns to facilitate

I want no part of Ball. You really think he'll want to re-sign with us when he is up? He and pops will be a nightmare to deal with. Sure he's obligated to if we use our RFA on him, but it won't be worth it. Without his Dad, sure. But his Dad runs his life for him and and I don't think he'll want to stay in Phoenix and will force his way out.

The Cavs guy never indicates it's a deal with the Cavs. I could see it being a trade with the Lakers for Deng and Ball for maybe the Bucks pick or a young player like Chriss or Bender.
Those assets then get moved to the Spurs.
Thus....goodbye LeBron.

I could absolutely see this as well. Makes sense.

What if all of Jackson, Ball, Ayton and Bridges pan out? We'd be handing out four max contracts in two years. Not possible.

Can't say I'm excited at the prospect of Love, but I can't deny it makes sense. I wouldn't give them all of Warren, Chriss and a 1st, though. Pick two. They also have to take one of Dudley or Tyson back under any circumstance.

ehhhhhhhhh Love 4 years ago maybe. now I'm not that interested. Perhaps he can return to his Minny form. We'll have an EXCELLENT rebounding front court that plays no defense. he's also a little old for my taste, but at least his game doesn't necessarily revolve around athleticism. he was quite good offensivley when the cavs made an effort to feature him. still need a point gaurd.

Woj on Kawhi - things are heating up in the NBA. IF Kawhi goes to the Celtics - Lebron and PG13 to the Lakers without the Lakers having to give up Kuzma, Ball, Ingram. Personally, I wouldn't mind if the Lakers got Kawhi but it cost them like Ingram, Kuzma and Hart and the Lakers had to take back Gasol or something like that. Really STICK in to the Lakers in a panic move

Though, I agree - that if the Celtics could get say Tatum, Mook and Rozier plus the Kings pick for Kawhi - that would be sweet. Or Jaylen Brown and not Tatum

You'd think the Lakers would move soon if LA wants LeBron and can't get PG13 to attract him

Return to Phoenix Suns
