Julius Randle will not likely sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers before Monday's deadline.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com, the two sides had "cordial conversations" but weren't able to come to an agreement due to cap issues.

Randle, who is set for his fourth season in the NBA, will become a restricted free agent next summer.

So we'd be trading a 30 year old expiring contract for a 23 year old expiring contract?

And we might help facilitate LeBron James leaving the conference?

Anybody see what the Ferguson dude did last night for OKC? Just 1 game but dang, dude's got some tools.

Earlier in the year I totally shut down a guy saying he'd be a good pickup for us in exchange for Bellinelli/'Sova. Kinda hope no one bumps that exchange.

Yes sir that kid is looking good. Not sure who, but somebody on nbatv said that he looks like a modern day Pippen....lol I know it seems like Pippen's been on my tongue recently...ewww no seriously though I would look to grab him. See this is the perfect example of somebody I would want to bring to the Hawks. He's young, he's got upside, Bud university...

I'd give them Ersan or Belli or a combination of our players.

I really love this kid's body. He reminds me a bit of our own Prince as far as tight bods go..

Uhm ....

Seriously though, I agree this is the kind of guy we should be targeting. Lots of years of team control, still has potential. Difference between him and guys like jOkafor, Hezonga, Randle, etc. is they're due to be (over)paid but nowhere near reaching enough of their potential to justify (over)paying them.

:blank:

Lakers: Julius Randle, thought to be somewhat undersized as a 6-foot-9 power forward, started his fourth consecutive game at center despite the return of Brook Lopez (ankle). Randle had been getting irregular playing time but in his first three starts averaged 20.7 points and 11.3 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field. ”

Yes I know this... 8-) I wasn't the one who wanted Randle and Clarks son....

And by the way...I think we are mature enough to discuss whose body is tight for the game and not for anything else....

Ps Mac is missing and so is Mace? Are they plotting? Lol.

Impossible! Mace is busy with housekeeper interviews and potential future sock purchases and Mac is looking for marked down Kyrie Irving Cavs jerseys and green paint!

LOL Did you mean 'stock' purchases? I hope not, 'sock' works better. But surely Consuela can handle picking out Mace's socks, no?

Start of the year annual meeting of the Macs. Bob McAdoo was the host and Todd MacCulloch the keynote speaker.

I thought Kevin McHale's begging outside to get into the meeting was really sad. Dude was banned years ago for being non-Mac like and it's not like he's improved in any way.

This is why we have to remain financially flexible and avoid contracts like Clarkson without getting 1st rounders/incentives on rookie deals back in any deal during the rebuild.

“We saw quite a few financially motivated trades between about 2008 and 2012 or 13,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on the latest edition of Posting Up, The Washington Post’s NBA podcast. “The cap wasn’t growing, the economy was poor, some teams were tight [with their money]. For the last three or four years, a lot of the deals that were financially based were to create cap space to use money elsewhere. “Now that the cap isn’t going to grow – it’s essentially going to be flat – you’re going to see financially-based trades. So teams that have flexibility in their cap are going to be in great position to take advantage.” – via Washington Post

If we can move Bazemore (without adding a pick), I'd willingly take Clarkson in exchange.

1. You gotta include links, lady.

2. We still need to actually have contracts to include in trade.

Short one and two year contracts for modest amounts are the prefect deals to collect. Particularly, for players that actually contribute on them. (As opposed to the Plumlee and Crawford contracts.)

That JC contract is one of the most inconsequential in the league as it's for a relatively modest amount on a very short term basis.
