These guys right there make as much as Harrison Barnes and are not good for much more than being warm practice bodies.

I think it will be interesting, but there are 2 paths to take at the deadline:

1) AK decides to keep Coby and Carter in the rotation, which will assuredly lose us more games. In which case, there's really no point to bring in positive contributing vets (basically to take their minutes). And at that point, you may as well press the tank button and sell on Thad and Sato.

2) Option 2 is that they look to get better and get a center (or two) and a pg. Both of which should come cheaply in trade for vets (not for stars, but for decent older guys). In which case you keep Sato and Thad.

Their congruent salaries act like a dress rehearsal for the impending max deal. Its palatable.
One thing i believe in sometimes is you need to make the pay to make the grade.

Meaning in laymans terms you get what pay for. Zach has a value contract, adding 14 mil of expenses to his "tab" is servicable to maintain his level of production/comfortability/motivation etc.
We are still getting fair value because he is performing at that level.

Interesting read...of guys mentioned, I'm big on trying to get Fournier. He's a crafty, non-ball hoggy scorer, who unlike Lauri, can create his own shot. He'd be a good SF alongside, PWill.

Derozen would be great. I’ve been saying to get him for the past year.

Lauri is going to be shipped out. I'm betting the 1st we get for him will be sent to get Lonzo.

I like Fournier next to Zach... and Lauri. Bombers everywhere. If anything, I'd send Thad back to the bench, if only because it's obvious he runs out of gas 20-22 minutes into every game and while I wouldn't call him a sloth after that threshold, his D in particular gets to be only of the "I refuse to move or jump and I will only reach" variety.

I'd be on board with deals that land the Bulls DeRozan and Ball if you can trot out

Ball
LaVine
Derozan
Thad
Carter

I'd be happy with that...

Swapping Lauri for Lonzo is like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic--not much point in doing it. If you're getting Lonzo, it's to get Lauri going. Zach doesn't need much help in that department as-is.

Would love to get Derozen...

Lauri + Otto for Derozen and Trey Lyles works! :)

i think demar is super underrated and he's having a sick season, but to justify adding someone at his age you'd have to basically get him for next to nothing

The Bulls should be listening on teams about not only Lauri but on Wendell and Coby but I suspect no team wants to trade for these busts.

The Bulls better be in the phones with the Pacers

Yeah, if you can get Brogdon, you've got to do it. Perfects side-kick to Zach. Why would they trade him though? Is he injured or something? He's on a decent contract and is, in essence, a high-volume Sato, which is a very, very good player. Give them Dead salary + 1st+ Coby+2 seconds + another swap.

IMO, if they are willing to trade Sabonis AND Brogdon, they're signaling they're throwing in the towel on the season; even then, they're trading two VERY productive all-star caliber guys on very decent deals. That just makes little sense, no matter the context.

If Sabonis and Brogdon are available you should make a strong offer. Donovan knows Sabonis well and Brogdon is a 3 and D point guard who is already under contract. Wouldn't have to deal with Ball getting a huge offer this Summer:

Bulls get Brogdon/Sabonis or Brogdon/Turner

Pacers get 2021 1st rounder, Lauri (or the 1st he might net in a separate trade), Coby, Otto

Opens up tons of cap space for Pacers and they get 2 1st rounders and Coby White.

Derozan,Thad,Carter and even Lonzo is awful for spacing. No bueno. I would only trade Otto for Demarr

That would be better than what they currently have right now.

What a great deal would be one getting Brogdon and Sabonis for the Bulls,if keeping Zach we'd be automatic playoff contenders in the East.

Return to Chicago Bulls
