Not that I am scared of the Hawks, but you've got Murray's numbers wrong, and there's no reason to expect Trae to continue at his low efficiency given previous performance.

The only reason the Hawks don't scare me is that if we're not good enough to beat them we're not even close to good enough to compete for a title regardless.

52.8TS% my bad. Still horrible.

And it's above his career average!

They didn't get him for his scoring efficiency though. He's there to give them another ball handler/playmaker and stud defensive player on the floor.

Going from Huerter to him has certainly had it's tradeoffs offensively (Kings had such a killer off-season)

Trae and maybe Collins (or is he checked out?) getting back on track and getting Bogdanovic should help their overall offense. They're not going to be the elite offensive team they were last year since the don't have the same amount of shooting in the rotation, but they're a lot better defensively.

Hawk should really be this. Trae is Nash like on defence/or AI so you must go 4 deep of + defenders.

Here’s what the end product should be in my honest opinion:

Trae
Murray
Griffin (stud)
Hunter
Okongwu (stud)

Get Turner at all costs and go big and switch AJ in the starting lineup. Let go of Collins/Capela who are both overrated relative to their trade value.

That way they have the defence and can score 110ish with Trae running the show.

If they end up with Turner and do this they’ll be scary.

I think it’s just a lost cause trying to build a contender around Trae. He either needs to become a wayyy more efficient scorer or figure out a way to play some defense. Peak Nash was shooting 50/40/90 in his sleep to make up for his defensive issues.

Yup. And all you need to do is to put a versatile big defender like Bam or Tucker to prevent those cat and mose game with him and Capella. Then what? Live with DeJounte’s 52.8 TS% do damage.

I dont think they should have went after DeJounte. Rather, they should have went after a big that defense can’t afford to switch their two man game with (Nurkic? Valanciunas?).

Ah… now it makes sense why they went after Ayton.

Is George Niang better than Dario Saric?

I think the Hawks **** up the trade market with the Murray trade. Everyone was surprised they gave up 3 firsts for him. Then the Wolves doubled down and nuked the market with the Gobert trade.

If Hawks had kept their powder dry, they probably could have traded for Mitchell or KD even. And I bet the Jazz wouldn’t have got 5 picks from the Wolves if the Murray trade hadn’t occurred.

What’s the arbitrary game threshold keeping Embiid off this list?

Saric had the better peak, but Niang is way more consistent.

2018 Saric was insane. He had shooting, rebounding, and playmaking.

Dario just caught the injury bug & hasn’t been the same. It’s a bummer but Niang is better right now.

And he was an "energy guy" as well! Even a few years later in that Finals I think that if he hadn't gotten injured the Suns would have won against the Bucks.

The fact he doesn't seem willin to shot off the catch and play off Murray is a bigger issue to me.

At the same time, the idea the Hawks had off playing Trae more off ball was good but you need to do so in favor of a guy that's a scoring threat itself and Murray isn't that guy

he and a lot of young bigs are great in theory but not so in reality.

a 7ft guy who can stretch the defense, switch on defense, and protect the rim and has "some" creation upside is one of the NBA white whales.

The issue is that most of these guys are mediocre shooters in reality, can switch sometimes, and are slight so their rim protection is also not as great and that creation upside isn't realistic...so you might end up with Channing Frye...

He was overrated last season but I think people will fairly rate him going forward with Mitchell stealing the spotlight with the Cavs

I view him as a player in the same category/echelon with Jaren Jackson Jr.
