Kanter wants to be a pro wrestler after basketball. With him and JJ we will have the makings of one of the best fighting teams in the league. I'll take that till were good.

Not only did Kanter abuse Sullinger in the post at last year's Hoop Summit, he dropped 34 and 12 on a sore back in 24 minutes.

I agree that he really hasn't shown much, but he was absolutely outstanding at help defense against who are some of the most athletic players outside NBA. And that + his rebounding is what has everyone talking.
Yeah, thats why I applauded him for his performance especially protecting the paint against speedy teague and cook and against my homeboy Gilchrist. But what's better, draft someone to balance out with Ed? Or someone who plays like Ed, more athletically but offensively (Please Use More Appropriate Word). And besides, do you have patience for a project? Or have patience for a big man with offensively-gifted potential who also happens to like playing like a big man and rebounding the hedoball.

We might need a Kanter type more than a JonasV type in the post-Bargnani world. Hopefully he can be the man to send Andrea to the bench (or another team) for good.
If Kanter works out, we're one more great trade/good draft away from being a young playoff team eventually imo.
Another advantage Kanter has going for him is he has climatized himself to the North American style of play by spending so much time over here. Val cannot say the same.
Question: who is Kanter's NBA comparison?

If the thinking is that Biyombo can be someone like Ben Wallace, sure I'd draft him. I do have patience for a project and I actually prefer drafting a project in this year's draft so we can tank next year too. Just waiting for a superstar right now and I see none in this draft other than Irving and possibly Williams

And dude can speak better English than our so called big man Bargnani. I swear Bargnani talks like he has a mouthful of rock in his mouth every time. Plus, I was a bit of stalker on Knight and TJ's twitter (creepy I know) and I found messages there that depict Kanter's down to earth personality too, such as how TJ was saying he was chilling with Kanter and the boys, and really buddy buddies with him, hanging out and stuff. So it seems like Kanter wants to fit in with the homeboys. And you're right, Val probably looks like a cultural outcast and an autistic guy in the locker room.
NBAdraft says the comparison is to Al Horford
Espn says Kevin Love
Two posters here says Luis Scola

That's one of the most underrated advantages Kanter has IMO, thefact the transition will be that much easier because he's played HS ball in California and spent a year learning on the bench from Callipari while going up against Knight, TJones and Harrelson in practice. Harrelson credited Kanter For his huge improvement in play during March Madness.

Looking at Biyombo's measurements, he's just 6'9" in shoes (6'7.75" w/o shoes), but he weighs 243 lbs, has a 7'7" wingspan, and his standing reach is 9'3". Out of curiosity, I looked up where his measurements rank against other C's in the league.
The only players in the league with bigger standing reaches than him when they were drafted are Yao, JaVale McGee (9'6.5"), DeAndre (9'5.5"), Brendan Haywood (9'5.5"), Shaq (9'5"), Brook/Robin Lopez (9'5"), Diop (9'5"), Thabeet (9'5"), Cousins (9'5), Alabi (9'5"), Whiteside (9'5"), Oden (9'4"), and Sanders (9'4"). He's tied with Dwight and Cole Aldrich.
Shaq/McGee/DeAndre/Whiteside/Haywood/Thabeet are the only players with wingspans that long.
His weight is within the same range as Bogut/DeAndre/Bargs/Monroe/Horford/Favors/McGee/Dwight/Divac/Hawes/Kwame when they were drafted (10+ lbs greater than Mutombo/Splitter/Amare/Noah/Gortat/Chandler), and he's tied with Noah for the lowest body fat% for a C at 4.8%.

From the limed footage available of Kanter and scouting reports, Id say Andrew Bogut on offense (last year's Andrew Bogut not this year's).
Defensively, it remains to be seen BUT we do know he's an excelkent rebounder and has the size to be a solid post defender. Also, he plays with an edge and is a high motor guy so you dont have to worry about him not giving a s*** like the current "center" we employ.

No they didn't.![]()
When they say "won the lottery" they are referring to the fact they were the 8th worst team but ended up with the 4th pick.
Yes, I understand that. They still won the lottery, the prize is moving up a maximum of 4 spots in the draft. In the NHL, only one team "wins" the lottery whereas the NBA has situations where multiple teams benefit from the lottery.
Here's whats on the TSN frontpage so no one tries to argueThe Edmonton Oilers will pick first overall in the NHL draft for a second straight year. The New Jersey Devils won the draft lottery Tuesday but teams aren't allowed to move up more than four spots, leaving Edmonton with the first overall pick.
I realize what TSN said, I said that they won because they moved up four spots. I did however fail to explain why they "won" and only moved up four spots.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 6
When looking at the 3 bigs Kanter Val and BB It really comes down to what kind of big you are looking for...
Kanter is the best offensive threat, with good rebounding but the question is defense and knees.
Val might be the best all round of the three in that he would provide exception rebounding with good offense (basing this on his foul shouting which indicates decent potencial to improve his offensive game) and solid help defense
Biyimbo looks like a defensive monster, a blocking machine with high rebound rate but you wonder where his offense going to come from.
All three have an unknown aspect to them. All three are euro league talents with minimal exposure. Kanter being the most known quantity in that he has been on our radar all year. And BB is exploding on the scene from his year in Spain and his recent display.
Personally I don't think we could go wrong with any of the three as I believe all are going to be above average NBA bigs.
If I had to give an opinion now I would go with Bismack Biyimbo based on the fact that I think he most athletic of the three with a natural feel for game. I think he can be a defensive game changer and that he does enough offensive moves to provide respectable offensive output in a few years.
Having said that I think that workouts are going to be a big factor this year and that one of the three will probably push himself to the forefront making the choice a little easier.

Enes Kanter
Someone once said,"To win, you must first lose." We've done our share of losing, now it's time to WIN......and Win it all we will. #bbn

He'd make a great Raptor.
If he can be an Al Jefferson on offense and slightly poor man's Kendrick Perkins on defense, I'd be really happy.

He's maybe even quicker than Bogut on offense and he seems pretty confident on his mid-range jumper. Intriguing.
If he was a light 230 pounder I'd worry about him banging in the post or could have trouble boxing out against the big guys in the NBA but a 260 lb weight with 7'1 wingspan are pretty solid body frame. He might not be a good weak-side helper but like u said he's got high motor and plays aggressively on defensive end. Intriguing!!

After watching DeKobe trying his best to make people laugh in the Ed Davis' video and he fails of course, I say we need a real comedian in the house, his sense of humor could definitely bring a shining light to the raps locker room.
