Hassan has said multiple times that he doesn't care whether he starts or comes off the bench as long as he can come in and contribute especially now that Bosh is out.

So either he's giving us lip service or he's genuine. But he's ballin outta control right now and I'm loving it.

He is giving us lips service....

I found today telling and once again reinforcing what many have said about how this organization views Whiteside. The excuse, the pretext of keeping Whiteside a bench player was to not disrupt the flow our staters have and since we were on a winning streak. That's why today I was so interested to see if Spo is a man of his word or if it was just a bs excuse to keep Whiteside on the bench.

Spo started Wade....

Whiteside is balling as an audition for his next team. Again the writing is on the wall sadly

Another strong performance by the GOAT. Road to the max, indeed.

He might have been a max player if this was five or more years ago. But it's not.

Then so be it. If Hassan starts our bench goes from already being the worst in the league back when Bosh was healthy to being historically bad.

He's still easily getting 30+ minutes. Difference is we're not wasting his first 6 or 7 minutes by making him take a back seat to both Goran and Wade.

If Hassan starts then who will offer any noticeable impact off of the bench? Gerald Green? lol

Subbing out Hassan and Justise for Stat and Green off of the bench would have us getting wrecked by any competent bench lineup.

I have no problems with Whiteside coming off the bench for now because Amar'e has been actually decent ever since (I'm sure I'm not alone on this) but expect fire soon once Scrubmire goes back regressing that I'm sure as well lol

People still failing to see why Hassan coming off the bench is not only good for us(right now), and for him too and he sees it. Yeah, keep pushing that agenda...

Pay the man and move on. If we maxed him out, then signed Wade to the max he could get from us or the 45/3 deal...and then signed minimum players and were at cap, then the cap jumps by $20M the following season. Do we get the full $20M or guys that we are today allowed to go over the cap for then count towards it, in essence us no longer going over the cap to keep them so to speak?

We'll likely pay Tyler 5.5M or 6M on a long term deal (4 years and we have his early bird rights) and his cap hold is just over 1, so my guesstimate is that we'll have almost 15M of cap space in 2017. That's pretty foggy now though.

Incidentally, I'm not sure how long that article will be up, because apparently some **** plagiarized heathoops about the remaining space under tax. A lot of this years stories have been taken down.

Wow so in theory if a team where to throw Tyler his max contract of a 4 year 57 mil contract. A cap hit of 22.7 mil and 23.7 would be the poison pill to swallow in year 3 and 4 of the contract. It reminds me of the Jermy Lin contract where NY was forced to decline. Again all in theory.

Therefore, the most any other team can offer Johnson is a four-year contract paying out roughly $57.9 million, which counts $14.5 million against the salary cap in each year. If the Heat matches, the cap hits would be $5.6 million for 2016-17, $5.9 million in 2017-18, $22.7 million (approximate) in 2018-19 and $23.7 million (approximate) in 2019-20.

I don't feel anything. That person clearly barely ever watches Hassan play, on top of that they have very little control over their own emotions.

Lots of people hate hype, I hate hype but that doesn't mean that its ok to jump to the opposite end of the spectrum when you don't like the fanfare surrounding a player.

...and so I sought clarity from him....

What do you see on the court that troubles you?

I see an immature player. I see someone who cares more about getting a block then playing defense. I see someone who leaves assignments, rotates slowly, cant shoot free throws, limited offensively, and hurts his team on D... Oh, and this player is going to get paid stupid money and isnt young.

I'm loving Whiteside on my fantasy team, but I admit, I haven't watched a lot of Heat games. So is what he's saying true or just more hating?

A lot of it is true but its how you look at things honestly. He's raw and improving. Should we give up on every player that isn't perfect?

A lot of what he's saying sounds like its based on narratives surrounding Hassan versus actually watching him play. His defensive rating to start the season was a little suspect but its much improved since January.

He does not hurt us defensively. Does he have a ways to go as a defender? Yeah, but he's not a empty stat stuffer.

Yeah but do you know WHY it's good for him? It's good for him because he can reform his supposedly immature character by showing he can be this team player, while also putting up monster stats--which will allow him to get max offers this summer from teams who will also offer him the starting job and a feature role in their offense.

Marc Cuban almost had Deandre Jordan by pitching him that he was going to be the man in dallas--he gives Hassan the same exact pitch, and Hassan will be a Dallas Maverick. I think also he'll look at the teams, or his agent will, and see that Hassan needs to be on a team that plays with big men and has shooters.

But it's fine. I think this is a fine compromise for this season, because if Whiteside, Dragic, and Winslow can stay healthy for the rest of the season, this should be enough to get us into the playoffs this year, and then who knows what will happen. Spo gets to stick with his small ball, Hassan gets to put up numbers, and then in the offseason, Hassan will go get paid for a team that can use him more efffectively, and Spo will...well I don't know what we're going to do if Kevin Durant isn't coming. Sign Batum to a max deal I guess.
