His contract is solid so it's fine but they have two young PGs they like so that's why they want to trade him

If LAC offered Austin Rivers plus 2021 1st, I would move Lee.

Rubio would still be getting shipped out in this scenario, but not for Rose. I don't understand how anyone can look at a Rose for Rubio + Pek package and say that's a good trade for Minnesota. They'd probably prefer to ship him off for a pair of second rounders, and if Thibs wants Rose so bad he can chase him with a big contract in the offseason. I doubt he'll have many competitors bidding with him.
Cap'n brings up a good point that the scenario I outlined would leave the Knicks with 1 PG on the roster (2 if you count Baker). Tyus Jones would be intriguing but I'm not sure how Thibs values him.
I've been reading the Wolves board for a while. There was a bleacher report article about 2 week ago where some hardcore fan who was a girl outlined a case why Tyus Jones should be their starter right now over Rubio and Dunn. Mostly, Wolves have played best when he is on the court this year with his ability to actually shoot a 3. I'd bet if you truly believe they'd want a first for Rubio, Tyus wouldn't even be up for discussion. He was a first round pick last year and hasn't looked bad in action. Actually was summer league MVP. He wouldn't just be a shoe in.
Don't have to believe me man, but we haven't been sitting around discussing 3 days for scraps. They want to rid Rubio off their roster. This gives Thibbs half a year to evaluate Rose without having to throw big bucks at him. Likely it will happen tomorrow, even if it is just a player for player swap. Just look at the other deals the Wolves have discussed for Rubio. Tony Snell(another bulls hold over), and Reggie Jackson(don't want him because of salary). They will take this deal because they don't want Rubio on the team past this year, they have no other real options for trade, and it clears his cap.
IDK what Wolves board you've been reading, but it's certainly not the RealGM one. Hardly any of us want to touch Rose with a ten foot pole, and certainly not in exchange for Rubio straight up.

I'm sure some of you want to add on the Noah contract on top of that but let's ignore that for now - I'm not mad at that result, just wish it could have been that from the start so that we got the first half of the season with a pass first point guard instead of the freight train we got.
