All I've wanted with Butler was a team full of tough 2 way players and I'd expect he'd have a chance at a championship, Miami has most of that and guess what, they've had some pretty good success with that yet won't go all in. It's really hard to win a championship and when you have a shot you should go all in but Miami hasn't.

so you are here waxing poetic on Danilo Gallinari for what exactly?

I'm not, I was saying Miami limited themselves roster wise. They wanted Gallo(OKC gave Miami permission to talk to Gallo) over Crowder and refused to extend him into 2021, the exact same reason Crowder left Miami. To me it's easy to think this limited the type of player they'd trade for... so if they would have traded and ate up some of that 2021 cap space there probably would have been a bigger pool of players to trade for.

you dont extend a guy like Gallinari if you have even a remote chance of pursuing a star and need that cap space, it was the right call. I’ll close it there because I dont want to continue to go back and forth over shoulda woulda coulda.

My price to send Duncan out and receive a high level 4 in return has always been 2 1sts attached. I’d probably do that for Collins. If Dipo is gone I want a sign and trade with a 1st to the Kings for Barnes. Bolster the team with 2 very high level role players. Let PJ walk.

That's fine, I didn't see any chance of Giannis going to Miami that summer, he could have signed the supermax and then requested a trade a year later which was easily done at his age. He played the Heat, he waited till late in the offseason to sign his supermax making Miami waste that whole offseason, then Milwaukee swept Miami with Ariza at PF who replaced Harkless at PF.

It's better to miss out on a role player than it is to miss out on a superstar.

I have a hunch... even if they added Gallo, based on what they did with Butler that if Giannis wanted to go to South Beach Miami could have made that happen.

The spurs only want picks? **** I'd give them two first and two swaps. That's 4 picks right there

Murray, Lowry
Herro, Strus
Butler, Martin
Collins, who ever
Bam, Yurt

Lol I don't even want to begins looking at the cap gymnastics of that if it is even possible. Maybe before the herro extension kicks in.

So who did we end up getting?

Also the Spurs want unprotected first round picks. I don't see us in the lottery anytime soon so that's something to consider.

Not close to being possible. I don't think there is much smoke behind Murray to Miami anyway (not worth that draft capital), the Collins pursuit might be legit though.

If Miami are recieving Collins they will need to be sending another player out of Yurt, Strus, Vincent, Jovic, Highsmith out to match salary.

Likely Heat get Collins for Robinson + Jovic + 2027FRP
Hawks get Murry for Collins and 2 FRPs and
Spurs get Robinson, Jovic and 3FRPs, so essentially a player and 4FRPs as has been reported as the asking price for Murry.

Not if your offloading Duncan. You need a 1st to offload that contract and another to for the acquisition of the player.

If we can turn Duncan Robinson's salary into John Collins, that's a great first step. I have concerns about Collins' defense, but at least he has some lateral agility for perimeter defense. If we can get a Boris Diaw system defender out of him that would be a big win.

We will maintain assets to make a move if another trade opens up

Murray to Atlanta would make a lot of sense. Someone to protect Trae on defense. Oladipo to ATL would make sense too.

Return to Miami Heat
