Assuming the Wizards match and he's making around $25M a year, I'm sure he could give a rat's ass that Wall wanted Paul George to play small forward here.

Lots of places Otto can make the same money and not have to deal with that jerk.

LOL... Wall is one of the few players in this league that are not only great, but make others great. Part of the reason Otto will make that money is because Wall.

Also imagine the Wiz don't match.

Then the starting small forward is Kelly Oubre who couldn't get on the floor in the ECF because Brooks didn't trust him (unlike Bogie and Jennings)...

If Oubre played 35min in the ECF then you could wonder but not in this case.

Only semi realistic scenario where they don't match : trade for Melo (pretty sure can't do it without Gortat and Morris) and get a starting 5 of Wall Beal Oubre Melo Mahinmi, your 2 best defenders with 3 20ppg scorers. But even less depth than last year.

To me it's match or blow the team up. The Wiz are in win now mode, losing your 3rd best player in FA is way worse than overpaying him

That certainly clarifies things. Curious to see if he gets another max offer from someone else.

Since deals can't be signed until the 7th that means the Wizards have until the 9th to match, assuming of course that Porter actually signs on the 7th.

In the end i think he will just get the other teams offers and then sign just sign here.

I hoped noone offers him that kind of money but with teams like Kings or Nets it was wishful thinking.

I think Washington's mediocre at best. They'll NEVER get better as long as Grunfeld and Leonsis maintain status quo.

Otto Porter is a selfless, solid player. He did slump in March and April, and I think the prospects for his improvement would improve if he were to be allowed to move on.

I don't think IF HE STAYS A WIZARD he's going to get the minutes or the touches to justify the contract he's going to sign. I don't think Porter has the confidence of John Wall. I think I HATE being a fan of the Wizards the past few years (I've been a fan for 45 years). I am not at all confident than Scott Brooks is a great coach. He prefers Markieff Morris get more attempts than Gortat or Porter.

I won't be surprised if the Wizards do let Otto go. Wall's comments were damning. Porter's the fourth wheel on this team. I hope Porter signs with Sacramento and the becomes the best player he can be. I'm sick of being a Wizards fan. Can't explain how I feel other than to say I'm sick of Grunfeld's crap plus I don't think Brooks did a good job at all in the Celtics series. Wall speaking out for Paul George demotivated me.

What WILL happen is Otto's going to be maxed out but the Wizards won't be a lick better next season. They'll be worse.

Ted is going to pay the tax in 2018 most likely.

Hopefully Mahinmi is healthy and plays decent, its going to be tough to dump him without attaching a pick. :banghead:

I get what you are trying to say... but players aren't as soft as you. Well unless they are from GSW anyways.

CCJ, Otto's going to be kept. Ernie and Ted aren't letting the kid go for nothing. You are right that as long as Ernie is here, this team is mediocre but in a weak conference to where they will be a top 5 seed and go packing every year on May 15.

If Wall doesn't like it, he can sign elsewhere in 2019 if he wants to be a diva and damn his own younger teammates.

But John, IMO, isn't that kind of guy. And John does need to have more confidence in Otto and to be honest, Otto has to step up and demand Wall give him more opportunities.

I think the image in Game 7 of Otto posting up IT and Wall waving him off is stuck in your head. But it is a good example of what's to come if Wall doesn't recognize he can be dominant in those situations by trust his teammates.

Ted should opens his eyes on his GM. Paying tax for almost the same team which has no chance to be contender is stupid.
If Mahinmi is our saviour man it is sad. It's almost sure he will be injuried again.
If EG received an extra pick each year he would send them all anyway for proven veteran :D

A proven veteran that another team no longer values or wants to retain.

The Wizards aren't going to let Porter walk. The only way i can see Porter not being here next year is if they do a SNT deal for Milsap. Granted i would not be in favor of that but i think it is a possibility.

Then again looking at the Hawks roster they may be high on Prince, in which case a deal is very unlikely.

Hey, If Sacramento really wants him...WCS and Justin Jackson is a really good start.
Not to mention we get a massive TPE that could be used for another deal over the next year.. just a thought

Kings won't do that. JJ yes, WCS no way. Wiz should let Porter walk so they have cap room to go after boogie. If there is one guy boogie wants to play with its wall and then you'd be contenders in the east.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
