Could D wade play pointguard when he was younger or now, or could he just do that in spot up minutes ? Or is he just way more effective as shootguard?

Spoiler:
The reason I am asking is because I am being a big time nerd building some alltime fantasy team and might want to use D wade as pointguard or main ballhandler for maybe 12 to 15 minutes a night

D Wade is usually the best with the ball in his hands so he could play Point but he got other dudes to do that for him anyways. You dont want the best player on the team handling all the duties of the game which is why he is predominantly at SG. He has the ball handling to be point but he is way more effective at SG. For the minutes you are asking , yes , he could play point but if you go above 15 you are really over working him when he does the most damage at SG.

Thanks for the reply. Yea like You said he is at his best when he has the Ball in his hands. That was my reason as well and it would probably be difficult for him to guard fast pointguards. But on the other hand he could abuse them on the offense.

You can see my team in my sig. I don't have a backup for Billups so I thought D Wade could work because there are so many great passers on the team, like KG and Andrei Kirilenko. So he would not be like in Steve Nash role maybe more close to tony parker a scoring pointguard

He was considered to be a PG when he came out of college, partly due to his lack of size to play the 2, but also because of his great playmaking skills. Thus, if you consider Rose or Westbrook PGs, you can consider D-Wade a PG.

Its not a need but people are acting like just because its not a weakness that means we shouldnt improve it.Chalmers is as good as he is ever going to get and god forbid he went down with an injury.Do we have Ray Allen handle the ball more or play LeBron 42 min a game lmao

A 3rd PG would be a good signing.A 3rd PG better than both your current PGs would be a fantastic signing.

I dont even think Mo Gotti is realistic nor do am I dying to have him on the team but he is pretty clearly better than Chalmers and Cole offensively or as a spark off the bench.

I didn't say anything else, as I didn't call it a pressing need. That means it's a need, but not one we desperately have to address compared to others.

I quoted you in agreement lol

Yeah.. No. We tried that experiment early on in dwade's career and it was turnover after turnover.

I wouldn't mind placing him at the point like this past year in an unconventional lineup for a few mins per game, but as for him always playing the point again? Yeah no thanks.

@AlexKennedyNBA 2m
As I tweeted last week, Mo Williams hasn't gotten the offers he expected and may just sign a one-year deal with a contender.

If mo is willing to take the min for one year, i dont mind it. Why not.

Update one more tweet from Alex Kennedy

@AlexKennedyNBA 1m
I heard Heat and Spurs were in mix if Mo Williams decides to go with contender. No surprise if Grizz are in mix too, as @ESPNSteinLine

I think part of the understanding with Mo taking a min 1-year deal would be that he needs to be a rotation player. He's not going to sign at a discount to sit on the bench.

Would really be surprised if we go that route. I get the sense that the organization is very happy with Cole as the back-up PG, and I don't think you can bump Chalmers from the starting unit after back-to-back championships.

I think this might be it for this season. Maybe we add Oden or Camby, but otherwise I think our rotation is going to be made up of guys already on the roster. I don't want to be doom and gloom with a repeat champion, but I do think this offseason was an opportunity wasted to improve. I'm holding out hope that maybe someone like Marcin Gortat becomes available around the trade deadline or maybe even gets bought out. As is, I think we might fall flat against the size of Indy/Chi/Brooklyn.

Yeah, if Mo takes a one-year deal, it'd probably be to pursue a far greater contract next year.

Can't see us promising him minutes and stuff like that, making us an unattractivr destination for him.

I also don't buy that Mo is better than Rio or Cole for what our team needs. Defensively he makes Rio look like Gary Payton. And Rio actually shows up in the biggest games unlike Mo who disapears from them.

If we were really interested in Mo it would be because Riley wants to trade Rio for a big man. Even then, I think Cole would become the starter at that point, and Mo would be part of the bench mob with Ray and Battier. Cole might work better as a starter with the first unit anyways. His ball pressure D could force a lot more turnovers with Wade and Lebron both in there with him.

The fact that this guy was released by the team that drafted him, traded 3 times in 4 years should be a hint that he needs to take the vet min

Cole has two rings. Mo has none. Give me Cole > Mo. No go for Mo.

Word from multiple witnesses of Greg Oden's workouts this week: He looks quite lean & is moving quite well. No wonder so many teams in hunt

The next steps: Teams will make formal offers early this week in terms of money & medical care. Then Oden should make choice by week's end

Key word with Oden - LEAN. i like it. in shape, less presure on knees.

The thing is - We shouldn't mind giving him MiniMLE Money if that's what it takes to land him here - and it looks like it does take that much.

We have 1 MiniMLE to give out every year. not using it this year won't help anything exept save a few bucks. It's not like there are other players out there that we need or want that we could get with the same MiniMLE. ther'e arn't any. It's Oden or bust, Oden or we dont use the MiniMLE at all.

After getting rid of Miller, we can't take thecheap route with this. we saved alot of money on Mile, and that waws the right call. Now is the time to use half of that saving and invest it in our biggest need - a true center (Oden).

Where it gets tricky is next year. If we give Oden the MiniMLe and he breaks again, we dont want him taking up any of our Salary cap NEXT YEAR. We'll need every & to bring the big 3 and add talent under the cap.
Here's why im optimstic - we SHOULD give Oden the MiniMLE because IF he does break again, it's the end of his carrer. and in that case, under the CBA - he won't count on salary cap (I'll try to qutoe this from the CBA when i'll have some time to look it up). So..looking at it rationally - We dont really risk anything exept some money, a much smaller amont then what Miller would have cost us. in terms of hurting us on the court - Oden can either help us big time, or not help at all. but he won't hurt us - he won't keep us from getting anyone else that we want.

Time for the first father-son campionship in NBA History. Bring Oden home Pat.

Rio can't defend PGs like Parker, Rose, or Rondo anyways. Just look at the 45-10-8 game he put up last season against Chalmers. Chalmers is a mediocre player. Mo at least is a much better offensive player and therefore a much better player. Chalmers is not a good defender, which is why Lebron had to guard Rose in 11 and Parker in 13.

Mo is a much better 3 point and mid range shooter, a better scorer in general, and a better passer.

The question with Greg Oden is whether the Heat are willing to match the Pelicans' mid-level-type offer or offer years.

I think he's worth 3mil this upcoming year. Question is what kind of guarantee to give him. Do we offer 2 year 6mil deal with a players option? maybe a team option instead? Maybe just one year at 3 mil.

I'd give him 2 years with the mini mele and a third year team option.

Return to Miami Heat
