Deeply, deeply sad to have lost D’Angelo.

Not just a genius of soul. A genius and a massive soul.

I will miss him forever.

Just one of many wonderful clips out there right now.

There is no justice in this world, so-many of the greats get taken out early while scumbags get to live out their lives into old age.

Random idea for a different WizBoard outing

Two upcoming shows at Jammin Java in Vienna.

Albert Lee Mar 17

Bill Kirchen May 16.

May not be everyone's cup of tea but two guys
with outstanding chops.

In late May Sonny Rollins -- one of the greatest musicians of the XXth century -- died at 95 years of age. May his name be remembered as a blessing.

I can count on Zards to be familiar with his work, not sure about anyone else here.

One of the great cuts from early in his career: https://www.last.fm/music/Sonny+Rollins/_/Misterioso

I've been listening to this for almost 70 years -- I was 14 years old when I heard it for the first time.

And that reminds me of a story my sister told me about seeing Sonny Rollins in (I think) Central Park, already in his late 70s or 80s. After his encore, my sister left to go home, and once out of the outdoor venue and on the street, she could hear that he had returned for one more encore, so she remained on the street and listened. While there, an old woman emerged from the subway stairs carrying grocery bags. She set them down and stood with my sister, listening. After the last encore, the woman picked up her bags, and before departing, she turned to my sister and said, "Sonny Rollins, last of the greats."
