But it is a big deal. Just another big name FA that chose not to come to Phoenix. Its becoming an epidemic. Who is the last big name FA that we landed? Exactly. We used to be a hotbed for star FA's, and now we cant even get guys to sign with us that have us up on their Mt. Rushmore of basketball cities.

Its a bad look.

Isn't Nash the last big time FA we signed? Kind of depressing realizing that. It should change with wins....but you kind of need those big signings to get those wins...kind of a crappy chicken-and-egg situation when you've been losing for so long :(

Thats a little misleading though since the suns were completely capped out from when Nash signed until that year amare left and they spent foolishly on childress and warrick and then were capped out again for a while after that. Had they managed their cap better they could have landed some good FAs in the nash years. The McD era is really the first time chasing fa for a while.

I mean, other then PG and Westbrook, they have a bunch of scrubs. The only other decent player is Adams.

You gotta think they would go hard after some more free agents if they have the cap room?

Pretty gritty team overall though. Westbrook, Roberson, George, Gibson, Adams. They have two high volume scorers and a bunch of junkyard dog types that won't back down from a fight.

But you can say that about tons of teams and several that don't even get meetings like the suns do. Were not a premier location but Phoenix is definitely in that second teir.

It's going to come down to the homegrown tallent getting good. If a couple of these guys hit over the next couple years and they have cap space they will land some dudes
. 2019 is a very solid plan to me. Hopefully booker and at least one of the other guys will be at the "star" level and ready to recruit help.

That is really what it comes down to. If Booker, Jackson, Chriss and Bender all play up to their potential, the Suns will be plenty enticing and will also have plenty of ammo to get a trade done for a legit superstar caliber player.

.....and hopefully Booker and the other "guy" wont be tired of being on a losing team and look for greener pastures elsewhere.

Look at these other 2nd and 3rd tier teams. Even when they hit gold in the draft, they always seem to lose the guy like 5 years down the line because they cant draw other top players to the team.

Someone on the OKC forum made it sound like Roberson and Gibson were gone.

They cant, otherwise he wouldnt have got that 5th year. Its against the CBA.

He can't get the 5th year in a sign and trade.

If Booker, Jackson, Chriss, Bender and etc. is still being on a losing team after 4-5 years, then they are the reasons of losing.

It was a win win. Blake comes....we are exciting and making the playoffs while growing. If not Bender and Chriss continue to get full minuets and grow. If Jackson and Chriss surprise us and really step up, you never know.

Blake is a good pre-cursor to what may happen with Bledsoe.

History of injuries, agent strategises setting up meetings with other suitors to push for 5 year max.

Well in that case, of course he didn't choose Phx...regardless of the years. Not choosing Phx can be for money, years, another team, whatever.

He "spurned" us for the richest contract in NBA history. We didn't take an L here.

If we still have him at that time and he has that many suitors, I doubt we would make a big effort to give him a max to keep him.

Yeah even if it's just a 1 year rental, that's a hell of a deal.

I would've done Knight and Warren for George even if there was no guarantee he would resign here.

It's amazing how often Knight gets thrown into these deals like he is a positive asset. I don't even think a team would take him on for a 2nd round pick even if we include Warren, and I love Warren. Much less a superstar.

Knight and his 3y/$44M is a better asset than Oladipo's 4y/$84M.

I understand that. But my thing is....Booker is a stud. We know that. But our "Fandom" also puts blinders on us, and what if Chriss/Bender/Jackson arnt half as good as we think they will be. Then is it Bookers fault and the reason we are losing? Because we were to resilient to not go after some established talent because we all hope that the other guys would turn out? We tend to hold on to youngsters and even when they dont shine, always make excuses for them and it turns into this, "One More Year". This guy just needs one more year and then he'll show everybody" or "That guy needs one more year before i'll admit that his just an average or below average player". By then its too late.
