If they did look to trade him then does this fit? I assume Barnes and OG are planned to be the starting SF and PF sometime soon. Seems inevitable that Siakam is moved right?
They would look to trade him by adding picks for a star or for a rebuilding package if they are losing. Turner is neither and a poor inbetween move.
He's only 25 and has one of the rarest skillsets in basketball. If you believe in Barnes (I do), I think trading Siakam for Turner + is a fantastic move. I do think it takes more than Lamb to bridge the gap, though.

What about Sabonis? What's an example of the level of star?

While it’s possible, it would have to be a new development. As it was reported that the 76ers owner and Morey flew to California a week or two ago to tell Simmons they were planning on starting the season with him as the deals out there were not good. That prompted Simmons to invoke the nuclear option of going to the media with his trade demand and refusal to report to camp.

Honestly no one really. But I would say there are guys who’ve been traded that can’t be included in deals that do. Prince from Min, Beverly from Min, Rubio from Cleveland come to mind. I would have a ton of interest in like Sexton, Rubio, filler, 23 and 25 firsts, 24 and 26 swaps. Or that ballpark

Norm Powell, or anyone else who just got an extension, I think would be the candidates? Or as sportscrazy said, it could be whatever player is needed for aggregating salaries, rather than the centerpiece (so, I think this would be Minnesota sending Taurean Prince with Beasley + ???).

This is the trade I can't get out of my head. It definitely needs some fine-tuning, but I like the general framework. Maybe Philly needs the pick from Minnesota? Pairs Lamelo with Anthony Edwards. The Wolves get their guy and some other frontline help. Philly gets to reshuffle the deck to try to win a title. Maybe the Hornets wouldn't be on board because it slows down their rebuild, but they're a much more interesting team in three years with this swap.

Rubio does and Rubio is an ideal player for Philly to get in return for Simmons. He'd complement Maxey or Curry.
Philly need a playmaking and defensive PG to help their two small SGs or they need a playmaking SF that can enable Green/Thybulle to play SG and Curry/Maxey to be at PG.
FVV, Rubio, LeVert are all interesting prospects for Philly. I say they should go for one or two of them and make the rest of the value up in future picks for a later trade.

Minnesota just isn't trading Edwards for Simmons, and the Hornets are stealing a TON of value.

When you see what Ant did the second half of his Rookie season as a 19 year old, you trade him for no one when you consider where the franchise is currently at.
With that said, it’s incredible value coming back to the Wolves. I was really impressed with Bridges last season.

I'm a Wolves fan as well. I just worry about the reluctance to trade Edwards to capitalize on KAT's prime. Keeping Edwards feels like limping though KAT's prime, then limping through Edwards' prime. (With the idea being that KAT leaves after his current contract because the Wolves can't put quality pieces around him.) I'd rather just see them go all-in now on a team that could be a top four in the West with this trade than eternally be a 7-12 seed. I wouldn't trade Edwards for Simmons straight-up, but the Wolves are getting a pretty compelling package back here and keeping a ton of interesting pieces in the cupboard (Beasley, McDaniels, Bolmaro, Reid, etc.)

I think if it was agreed to we would hear about it, even if not legal yet.
What may be is that he has a "back pocket" offer involving a player like that and no reason to pull the trigger early if he can keep shopping and maybe get something better together.

So basically about half the guys that people are proposing on this thread.
Got it.

Gilbert's never going to let Altman ship out all that draft capital, thank god, in addition to Sexton and Rubio.Sportfan73 wrote:Foshan wrote:babyjax13 wrote:I feel like we are waiting at this point because Philly has agreed to a trade for a player that can't be traded until the season starts.

I'm sure that teams aren't presenting good opening bids, but Simmons has been on the market for a three months now? That's enough time to flush out his market. While it's true that the Sixers aren't negotiating from a position of strength, I think the bigger problem is that other teams just aren't attributing that type of value to Simmons.
He's a max player who can't shoot. Other teams aren't selling the farm for that. He's not Harden or even a second tier two-way guy like PG or Butler.
You're hoping you can mitigate his impact on spacing by moving him to a position he's never played before. Unless you're one of five or six teams, you're going to have make other moves to rebalance your roster afterwards. If you're doing too much of that, it really limits the value in acquiring him. This is before you get into post season Ben and what it means for your long-term goals with him on a max deal.
I suppose that all it takes is for one desperate team to do something dumb, but I feel like if that was going to happen, it would've already.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think a really good young player, a good PG on an expiring contract, immediate cap savings, two unprotected firsts and two swaps, from a 20-win team, is something that's in the cards.

Indiana trades: Domantas Sabonis

Philadelphia trades: Ben Simmons

Could this be a framework for an interesting deal? I feel like Simmons would be a fun fit next to Turner and with all the balanced two-way players in Indy, and they were rumored to be interested.

the last thing they need is previous gun owner distracting locker room with embiid.

Sabonis/Levert to CHA for Hayward + bouknight + picks..? It would have to be levert going out too i think to match salaries long term (otherwise they will have trouble keeping warren)
