Bullock was a safe 7/10 on both D and the 3ball. Nothing special but serviceable. He is not a PJ Tucker/Wes Mathews type of defender though and you want this type of pest to guard elite offensive players. Hopefully Marjon and AJJ will have a Brogdon type of breakout in this role.

I'm really excited for this season!

Let the young guys soak up vet savvy & see who can play now.

No point in rushing to pay names that don't thread the needle any different or better than who's around atm.

Wouldn't have a problem if they wanted to punt like AJ Green for a guy like Bullock who can step in and play minutes. I get the idea of throwing young guys into the fire but if they're ready they can beat the likes of Beasley and Bullock for minutes.
You guys really overvalue these try hard G league prospects if you think AJ would have been better for us than Bullock

It feels like we would be set with him starting the 2.
You are just now questioning that? It was a horrible decision from day one. What part of the Ibaka era had held you over this long that you are now coming to that realization lol?

Yea Donte would be absolutely perfect for this roster.

If MarJon / AJJ / Livingston / AJ just show flashes they’ll have trade value which we could leverage at the deadline if we want to.

Adrian Griffin is known for developing young players. And even before we hired him Rich Paul was steering MarJon and Livingston to take less money to come be cultivated in the Bucks’ system. In contrast pissing off Klutch could cause us problems if we break whatever kind of understanding we’ve had the past few drafts.

Unless there’s a clear upgrade I see us giving these guys opportunities for clock if only during the doldrums of the regular season. Then we assess and aggressively explore deadline deals like Horst does every year.

Ideally we set up a talent pipeline like the Heat and Spurs before them did to seriously extend their contention windows.

Bullock was on the mavs the last 3 seasons where he had a kid and his other started going to school.

He probably chose staying in texas over ring chasing. He also probably got over vet min

MarJon and Iggy Jr will be in our top 8 this year and will be legit useful. I’m willing this into existence god dammit.

What do we think it would take to get herb jones during the season?

NOP may want to put trey Murphy in a more prominent role, and they already have BI and Zion as the other forwards. I don’t know if there’s a ton of room for herb.

I think if the bucks really want a wing defender for Tatum, Jimmy, KD, etc. herb would be better for those assignments than Jrue was.

Was Bullock someone the Bucks were really interested in?

Gauging how much Horst sees SG as an immediate problem vs something that could be solved internally or closer to the deadline.

As much as I love Herb, he's much more of a 4 than he is a wing/guard perimeter defender. We've already got Crowder for that. Need someone who can take the defensive pressure off Dame occasionally.

Maybe he would but Bullock is a pretty marginal player IMO and we have other guys hungry for minutes too so I don't think one could assume he'd deservedly start & get 30+ minutes every night. Marjon has to be a contributor this season and if he can't be that then I doubt he ever will, think everybody here would rather he get consistent minutes so he can grow & figure out what we have. I think it could be a blessing in disguise being flexible with this 5th spot instead of locking it down with guys owed minutes, opportunity is a good motivator and so is riding the hot hand. Maybe AJJ finds his niche, maybe AJ Green feasts on the extra spacing, Malik Beasley starts starts looking like he did few years ago, we all know Pat shows up, point being is I feel pretty optimistic about one of our guys figuring it out if given the opportunity plus there is always the deadline if we need mercs.

I think we're pretty much done outside of camp cuts and maybe (hopefully) shuffling the last two-way spot. December 14th is when you can aggregate some of those minimum salaries (Beasley, RoLo, etc.) though. Bobby + 2 vet minimum contracts can still get you in that $15-18 million salary range if the worst case scenario happens (Crowder looks washed, Brook finally loses a step, Middleton still battling through nagging injuries, and none of the young guys develop). I think we still have enough to go get one of the following guys:

Norm Powell
Dorian Finney-Smith
Royce O'Neal
Bogdan Bogdanovic
Kevin Huerter

Would be beautiful, but not sure how we pull it off. Would have to be like MarJon and the Portland pick, if they'd go for that, which I doubt.

MarJon's got the length and feet to take the task. He's got to bring consistency and discipline.

Not necessarily about Bullock and the particulars of him but this line of thought has never really made sense to me. Dallas and Houston are ~250 miles apart. I don't see much utility in staying in Texas unless you're insistent on keeping your family in Dallas, in which case if you're in Houston you can travel more regularly to see them. But If you're moving and your kids are changing schools I don't see much value in staying in Texas. We moved a few times when I was a kid, one of the times was 1000 miles away and one of the times was 100 miles away and the reason it sucked was the exact same, I didn't get to see my friends anymore.

Yeah, I think you nailed it with the point about it being easier to get back and forth. If that was indeed part of his decision. Could have just been his best offer.

He played mostly PF last year, I don't think he can keep up with faster guards.

I don’t know how his shooting form works out, but Andre Jackson Jr. is everything you want from an intangibles aspect at the 2 with this current starting 4. He would be the ultimate glue guy with that group and would bring some incredible athleticism to an already solid core. I just feel like Griff hand picked this guy to be his next developmental success story. I think MarJon would be a good 2nd unit scorer who might pair well with Cam. I think AJJ is going to turn out to be an incredible player & a core championship role player.

I’d trust Stanley Johnson more than just about any of our other young wings. Might as well sign him.
