The Jazz expressed they were open to moving Kessler leading into the draft, according to rival front-office sources in contact with them. Utah was after a top-10 draft pick in exchange, and it wasn’t clear if even that would be enough to get a deal done.

The Knicks could offer McBride and the Pistons’ 2025 first-rounder for Kessler. They could throw in a first-round swap too. But would that be enough to get the Jazz to bite? After all, it’s not like Utah has to trade Kessler, who has as many as seven more years of team control ahead of him. McBride’s three-year, $13 million contract is a steal, but it’s more attractive to a contender like the Knicks than a group starting over like the Jazz. By the time Utah is competitive again, McBride would be ready to hit unrestricted free agency.

And from the Knicks’ perspective, would they even want to offer so much?

the easiest thing to do is to refuse going over it. you cant do **** with the team once you are over the second apron. that's why I firmly believe we should trade randle now, even in a "it doesn't make sense" move like 4 frps from golden state, or orchestrate a 3 team deal

yeah but we talking about danny ainge. this guy always rips off teams no matter what. he wont just settle for a weak pick and just deuce. you saw what happened last time with donovan mitchell. dude held the trade up for an extra unprotected pick/Grimes. and i doubt they want deuce. they have tons of guards and just drafted another one. would love to be wrong but i doubt i see a deal here happening.

Personally, I would just re-sign Precious for depth and a tradeable salary, maybe use the taxpayer's MLE on possibly another big or a vet at another position, fill out the roster with our second round pick(s) and then just wait on Orlando. They have too many playable bigs.

They have Carter, Wagner, and Goga who get minutes at the 5 and Isaac that backs up Paolo and gets minutes at the 5 also. A couple of those players are injury prone but considering they have no true point guard and limited shooting maybe someone like Kolek or Deuce would appeal to them. I believe Goga should be available to be traded in December though i'm not sure he is the big they would try to move. I would just try to sit tight until then.

Opening up that 5 mm TPMLE screams Lowry since there isn't a big on the market any good right now.

I would like precious but more as a 3rd string. If he's the backup he's one Mitch injury away from starting.

Leon doesn't tend to overpay, but sure, he overpaid for MB because that's the only way he was going to pry away the infinity stone from the Nets.

Mikal’s had to be at the top of the list as far as demand this offseason. Based on that alone
Imo, he didn’t over pay. If you feel there were too many
1sts - if the knicks make the play offs for the next 10 years will it be considered an overpay Stu? Much less win a title….

MB will be 28 when the season starts...you think he's playing till 38 like he is now? There's no guarantee for a title, there's just a window of contention and the Knicks need to maximize it.

I think the deal was an overpay, not by that much but still well worth it to the Knicks and they could afford it even if it doesn't constitute the 'star trade' as people imagine them to be.

Which is fine in theory if we are healthy. However one injury to Mitch and we are in big trouble. 48 mins of precious and sims would be a disaster.

From the moment we drafted Pacome in the 1st round his salary was a head scratcher. It seemed odd a cap conscious team would do this. You'd think they would want to keep the books super lean. Maybe trade the pick during the draft, etc.

The unexpected 80% drop in pay his 1st year makes it feel MUCH more comfortable. Essentially, he's end of the roster filler.

Typical rookie scale contract for 25th pick... $2,720,040 ----> $1,808,080 (%80 drop)

He now makes less than the average salary of Charlie Brown Jr. and Dauane Washington Jr. and Jacob Toppin made last year.

Probably going to see significant time in the G League to develop.
