and Zinger should be able to play a lot of minutes at C as well.

i agree they can play C, and probably will, but i think they are more PFs.
and phill/mills said their first priority is a backup center, so i think they see them as 4.LJ4pointplay wrote:mpharris36 wrote:KOQ and Lou are more centers than they are PF's

he can, but i hope he doesn't. he would need to bulk up too much which would ruin is other characteristics. it is one of the mistakes thy made in developing bargnani (although he base of kaZinga seems higher than that of bargs, and the attitude much better)
ok, so revised grouping
3: early, greek macumba
3-4: Melo, Thomas, dwillo, Chewbacca?
4-5: Kazinga, kylO, uncleLou
5: RoLo, Captn Kirk?
that should be flexible enough, but it is at least one too many

You don't need a traditional backup 5 anymore because there just isn't a lot of back to the basket centers. As long as the big rebounds and protects the rim it doesn't really matter if they are 6'9 or 7 foot.

Both Phil and Mills on record saying we are looking for a back-up center. To me that says they don't see O'Quinn as a back-up center they see him as a starting PF.

Calderon/Grant/Gallo
Afflalo/Gallo/Grant
Melo/Williams/Early
O'Quinn/Porz/Williams
Lopez/???/Lou

i know they said that but that doesn't optimize our rotation.
Hopefully Porzingis is showing enough that he might even start for us at the 4. Early, Williams, and KOQ is a solid backup front court.
Then have Lance Thomas, Ndour, and Amundson as the 3rd string.

they didn't just sign Williams to play 10 minutes a night to backup Melo.

I agree I just don't see a need for a back-up center. But they said they are looking for one on more than one occasion now.

jose starts at PG, with grant as his backup.
LG2 is 3rd PG or backup SG

they also said that prior to N'dour breaking out. So maybe they think he is enough big man insurance. Behind RoLo, KOQ, Amundson, and Porzingis.

Jose sucks as starting PG, he's more useful in the 2nd unit. Rather have Gallo start during the 1st quarter of the season, then lean to Grant for the remainder.
