Love and Aldridge and keep Taj and bring over Nikola. Greatest 4 man rotation of all time.

We can get any of the two but getting both is highly unrealistic and delusional, the only chance is if they colluded like the big three and i doubt it. I can see the two playing togheter, bit not on the bulls.

I also think that several teams have more attractive assets than we do in love scenario, la, boston, gsw. If love gets here is because he is strongly asking for it.

However if our big FA signing this summer is gasol we need a change in the FO. If love stays i prefer to keep boozer and hope for the deadline.

If they colluded, it would probably be for LA. I don't know how they both get there though.

The thinking would be no one can put a team together better than

Rose
Butler
Melo
Love
Noah

If it's between Melo and Love, I think age should be taken into consideration.

KLove is 25 right now, will be 26 next season.

Also, the ESPN article makes it sound like he wants winning over anything else, which suggests that Chicago has a better chance than NY or LA.

It's not our FO's style to go for both, hard to imagine that happening.

If the Bulls are going after both....

I would want Melo an Aldridge (has played at a high level in the playoffs on a good team)

Rose
Vet
Melo
Aldridge
Noah

BOOM...this team doesn't get beat.

FA/bradley
Green/pierce
Love/sullinger
Gortart/faverani

Deep team competive in the east.

That team is severely flawed and still wouldn't matchup to the top 4 or 5 seeds in the east IMO.

That team in the east is a contender with still options to improve.

The east has shown some imrovements but is still very weak with big question marks.

Miami is aging, as long as lebron is there they are contenders, but wade is a huge question mark for them. Indiana is one of the worst conference finals teams we have seen and could loose lance. Our fate is tied to rose returning to be an all star. Washington is improving but is in no way great and could loose two rotation pieces.

Next year the east could be as weak as this one.

And even so, we still have Gibson and 2 future firsts to offer outside of the package for Melo.

Bulls Tradeable assets.
Boozer's expiring.
Gibson
Mirotic
Bulls 2014 1st
Bulls 2016 1st
Bulls 2018 1st
Sac Pick
Bobcats Pick

You have enough to send 3-4 assets to both the Knicks and Wolves and still field a contender. Maybe you have to include Butler in one of the deals worst case.

There's a boat load of teams we'd have to trump. The Lakers will offer their pick this year, so will Boston. You're giving them Nikola, 16, 19 and another 1st which still may not trump LA's or Boston offer. Boozer will be the salary filler.

So now that leaves Gibson, Mike, and two picks for Melo. I am not sure NY takes that offer for Melo. Maybe they do, but I am not sure.

After that you have Gibson,

That's the point though. We don't have to trump those teams. This isn't 2 years ago when both had a lot of time left in their contracts. The wolves and Knicks don't have the leverage. Love and Melo will pick where they want to go and then the trade will be made. Do you think any team will give up serious assets for a player who won't resign? Do you think Melo agrees to a sign and trade to somewhere he doesn't want to go? 3-4 assets and expirings is a good return for a situation where you don't hold the cards. Some times something is better than nothing.

Where are the cap gurus? If the Bulls trade Taj/Mirotic and picks to the TWolves for Love and amnesty Boozer, is there anyway the Bulls can free up enough cap space to offer Melo $18-20mm? I assume the Bulls would have to dump everybody but Rose and Noah. Or would all the deals have to be done as S&T?

Taj/Mirotic/Dunleavy/Brewer/2-1st rd picks for Love

Boozer/Snell/Mike James/2-1st rd picks for Melo

We would have the MLE and BAE as well I believe, which we could use to fill out the roster. Greg Smith and Kirk will be vet minimum backups, the roster of the roster is vet minimum guys and guys on the BAE or MLE.

Have to think Mirotic would be ok with going to Minny because he would have the opportunity to play with Rubio. IF he is not but he is ok with going to NY, you give the TWolves another 1st rd pick and give the Knicks Mirotic in place of one of the picks.

2014 Roster
Rose/DJ Augustine (BAE)
Jimmy/ Kirk Hinrich
Melo/vet min
Love/vet min
Noah/Greg Smith

Let Love go to the Lakers by himself...lets get Aldridge and Melo.

Miami will have 2 MAX contracts possibly open after next year. If they really want to, they could just retool that team and sign LMA an Love to play with Bron.

I agree, if they play toghether it is almost surely in LA.
Trade for love and sign melo, ring chasers all the way for the rest. I'm on the phone so i can't check the numbers but seems doable. I believe lakers only have kobe and an expiring nash on the books.

I could see the T'wolves considering an offer of Boozer+Dunleavy+picks and maybe Mirotic for Love and one of their many wing players they have signed for multiple years. It gives them assets + future flexibility while likely having a chance at being almost as good of a team this next season (remember Boozer is in a contract year, which are always his best, he just needs playing time to prove he is worth another contract). And the T'wolves need to move one of their wings, whether it's Martin, Buddinger, A Moute, or Brewer as that is almost $20 mill worth signed for multiple years with cheaper and younger options like Shved and Muhammad also signed. And JJ Barea has expressed frustration as well so he could be moved too. My point is it will not be just Love on the move. Their roster needs a little cleanup to say the least, but they also have to be above the leagues minimum salary requirements.

And the Bulls have the ability to absorb players with the non-guaranteeds they signed, plus short term contracts like Boozer and Dunleavy. It is a logical trade scenario.

If there is room to get Melo after, great. But I doubt that. Afflalo could be more likely. Or even Gerald Henderson as the asking price will be so low.

And the talk about Aldridge is absolutely crazy. He is not signing an extension because the way the CBA works he would get less years if he did so, and ultimately less money. It makes sense for him to re-sign later, not now. He will stay in Rip City, as long as they have a center playing next to him .

You still have to compete with Golden State, Houston, and maybe even OKC. OKC could offer Ibaka, Lamb, Jackson and a pick which would blow the bulls offer out of the water. How does Love say no to Durant and Westbrook? The only scenario where we give up as little as possible is if Love says he's going to Chicago and Chicago alone (which I find very unlikely). Then Minny has to decide whether they want to keep Love for that year on the chance he changes his mind, or take the crappy offer. For me, I'd rather take the chance Love would stay than take the 16th pick in this draft.

Do you think Love wants to live in OKC? I don't. He mentions about 5 teams and they are all big markets.

We don't have to compete with offers from other teams. We need to compete for Love's interest. Not the wolves. We need to get Noah to go whisper sweet nothings to Love about Rose, Noah, Butler, Melo and Thibs. And how perfect and pretty he would be. If Love comes out and says I will only resign with Chicago, then the Minny has little leverage.
