I see a black mans intelligence and character come into question because some fans are mad the Knicks aren't any good when the fact is the Knicks have not been good in damn near half a century.

I see a black man be called greedy for wanting to maximize is earning potential because fans want him to take less money to come play for their team.

I see a black man being called a brat because he wants to play in a damn all-star game.

I see a black man being railroaded because he posted a pic of ANOTHER black man in Ali.

That's what I see. It's one thing to insult his game. It's another to insult who he is as a man and let those insults tip toe that line in the sand.

Some posters speak on Melo as if they are chastising a child...and they do the same to posters who stick up for Melo. They just word it fancy because they think they can talk over everyone's head like no one comprehended what they just typed.


As I said, I have no issues with people going in on Melo the player. Lord knows he deserves it. I feel some type of way when people(not you per say) start the over the top extra.

Thank you for a very thoughtful and genuine response it actually makes me think. Honestly I think I am beginning to appreciate your perspective. OTOH I deliberately separate the player from the person otherwise I can't really enjoy sports. When I call Rose dumb I am(usually) referring to his decisions on the court. When I call Melo selfish I want him to pass the ball. When I say a guy is overpaid it's because I want everyone to be a valuable asset. The rest of the time I am just venting about the game and I hope(perhaps naively) that is what most of the others are doing. If I get carried away or go over the line PM me. #StayMe7o

Venting while watching the game is one thing. We have all questioned players IQ. That's normal stuff. Melo does dumb things on the court that will make you scratch your head. Rose is killing me right now.

However, saying Melo isn't intelligent enough to help lead a conversation on the state police brutality after his ESPN speech is uncalled for. That literally happened here.

People literally call this man dumb. Not only him btw. I don't remember if it was in this thread or another where a poster said Rose wasn't a good person or something like that. Another poster had to address it.

This goes beyond basketball. People that crap on players games I have no issues with. It's the people that do that other crap and then try to mask it by saying they just want what's best for the team. Then when they get called out on it they say they are being attacked. Nobody wants to stand by what they say. They rather call people trolls if they don't agree.

I chose not to reply to it. Things are being said that are untrue. False replays of things I said are being twisted into lies as usual. Trying to chase down every mischaracterization of things said is just a dead end so I'm not going to bother. I know exactly what I said and if people want to lie and twist things like that then I will accept they are lame and move on.

I was totally transparent. I admitted this past week was dedicated to bashing Melo. I wanted to and I was frank about it.

Before that is another matter and years of posts don't get reduced into a simpleton's formula much as you might try.
