He finally did it. We can re-sign him now. I didn’t want to re-sign him with his stupid sunshade he had covering his eyes but now that he cut it off his court vision should be better.

Its an odd thing. But when I look at our pg options for the coming year--draft, free agents, trades--Knight and Payton with good coaching and accountability have as much talent and possibility as most.

Nothing crazy here.

According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, San Antonio, “Won’t settle for anything less than a grand-slam offer.”

I've also been trending this direction recently. Elfrid and Rubio are similar types of players. The question is what Koko thinks. He'd certainly be a cheaper option than, say, Marcus Smart, and probably even Fred VanVleet (who is best suited to be a backup in this L).

But if we're relying on Payton, Knight and Harrison at the 1, we're putting a lot of faith in Koko's ability to upgrade these guys. OTOH, there are risks with all our options.

Better to extend Payton's trial period than to go all-in on a guy like Conley, Kemba or Evans? Maybe.

Yeah we need 3pt shooting badly at PG if we draft Ayton. Knight certainly fits the bill. Question is will he play defense?

Payton is intriguing. He sucked so bad for us in his last 10 games. Maybe see if he bites on the QO.

Knight, Payton, Harrison, Ulis, Cannan ... who do you keep out of those guys for PG?

Maybe throw a big one year contract at Rondo ??

Stay away from Kawhi

Buford/Pop v Sarver/Ryan/Jones

just don't trust that to work out for the Suns. find GMs with a history of bad moves and try to take advantage of those guys. I am serious. Vlade Divac - granted, not sure what they have.

I still think the Blazers could be a fit if they need to dump Aminu or Harkness
The Rockets - if they truly want LeBron - not Anderson of course but Tucker and Gordon
Charlottte - granted, not sure the expirings of Daniels, Chandler and Dudley do anything for them - but Marvin for say Chandler works for me. Charlotte probably doesn't need future cap space as who wants to play in Charlotte. But they are capped out even with Howard/Lamb expiring

I'm in the same boat. I'm sure if McD called them right this second and offered our #1 and Jackson for Leonard, the deal would be done immediately.
I think some GM's in this league would have done that for the sake of adding a star.

For us.....ummm yea no thank you. Let's stay away from that battle

Just a random trade idea.

Who would say no?

John Wall for Parsons and the #4 pick? (as the centerpiece of the deal)

Wiz get a bad contract but less years and a pick to help them build.
Griz get a scoring guard to pair with Conley to give them one more crack at winning.

Igor coached Payton as a rookie. So he probably has a good idea. The kid is a bit quirky. But he has talent. When you watch the highlights of his first few games with us, he was fantastic. He can dish, handle, drive, play D. His shooting had improved and then dropped off the planet. It seemed like once he was clear we were tanking, he just quit.

Rondo, Ayton, Doncic, Nash, Kokoskov. You know what they all have in common?

Bill Duffy.

My guess, the Grizzlies say no because the next four years of Walls deal are horrible. But you are right - both teams need to change things up.

Grizzlies do not have a pick next year so might be in their best interest to figure out how to "get better" if they can

Evans or Bradley are available if we want them I don't see us sticking with our current PGs.

Draft Ayton
Sign Evans or Bradley at PG (though Elfrid did cut his hair )
Knight comes back - and is okay with being a 6th man
find a veteran PF - maybe using Dudley, Chandler - TJ (not ideal but might have too)
keep Williams if you trade Chandler to back up Center -keep both of them if you trade Dudley
find a three point shooter for cheap like McDermott

growth of the players under Kokoskov
better game plans under Kokoskov

how much better is the team

Lmfao Elfrid's hair was a legitimate point of contention for coming back to Phoenix   :rofl2:

edit: Also mentioned that we're meeting with Khyri Thomas from Creighton next week

As well it should have been. We don't know that Elf will be better without his hair, but if he's worse, that's in his head. The hair is an indication that basketball isn't really his first priority, and that ain't right at this level.

Good. Let's see what happens. Loved him before he dropped down a pit.

IDGAF about Payton's hair. I don't want him anywhere close to this team next years regardless of what his haircut looks like.

We also already met with Khyri at the combine, so this will be our 2nd interaction with him.

That probably translates more to someone in the front office letting him know that it's in his best interest to cut it. Not necessarily that we will bring him back.

I don't think he's worth the QO which will be around 8 mil I think. Would rather just relinquish his rights and then sign him for a one year deal at a little less.

We are already paying Knight and he's been a disappointment. How many guys do we need on the team to say "Maybe they can improve IF"....why dump money into another guy who was a disappointment...a guy another rebuilding team who had under control in RFA dumped for a mid 2nd. He's been coached by multiple people in Orlando and now Triano and it not part of any solution.

Man if we bring Payton back that will be really disappointing. I feel sorry for Koko if that happens....having him, Knight, Ulis, Harrison...so may bad shooters. Knight has been ok at times, but his TS% overall has stunk and he overdribbles and plays like a deer in the headlights.

Please do better McD.

I mean good job on fielding a team bad enough to get you the #1 pick in a great draft. You've had enough top 5 picks. Sign some decent free agents not the bottom of the barrel crap.

What's really the point? I really hope I don't have to watch him or Knight starting for us next year.

Return to Phoenix Suns
