I don’t know why posters like to act like every player has to be smiling all the time. Let’s promote someone at your job over you; someone who you are more skilled than at the moment and see how you feel about it. Kanter isn’t a cancer and he isn’t wrong for having personal goals at the start of the season. He wanted to be an allstar. Pills need to just let the man go rather than have him suffer through this rebuild. Yeah

In this context, I understand Kanter completely. How long is an NBA baller's life? 12-15 years on average. At best. Of course, he wants to make the best out of the years he has been given. And, defensive skills aside, no one can deny that he is a competitor. His reaction is normal, it just does not have to be public. He has to be waived to give him a chance to play elsewhere. For his sake and for Knicks current sake.

Kanter knew what he was getting into when he picked up his option. Besides he's the primary reason why he'll never be an all-star, and a part of why the team isn't winning so really he can only blame himself.

But he does have the power to end this. Ask for the buyout. Really so simple.

It was not a smart business decision to turn down the option, period. You’re right though, he can just ask for a buyout. But I see that as also a bad move on his behalf because with his style of play it behooves him to play good soldier to show another team he can just fit in. His options around the league are limited. I personally would like to see him back in okc. I don’t think he’s a bad player at all. He’s just not a guy you want to rely on every night as a starter. Fans are being rather harsh calling him a BUM. I can’t stand for that.

Last I checked, we suck with or without him

Pointing out that he sucks isn't scapegoating him. Saying he's the only reason we suck and without him we'd be good would be scapegoating him. You don't have to be the only problem to be a problem. Everybody sucks, just some guys are younger and therefore have the potential to not suck when we try to compete

So does Kanter. If everyone sucks why do we seem to keep singling him out while protecting others?

Kanter is in his mid 20’s. He’s not old at all. He can improve.

I don’t want him back either, but damn.

The issue all point to Kanter though. Kanter chose to come back. he chose money that he knows he'll never see again. The fact he wont improve his game actually shows how stupid of a player he is. Kanter chose not to develop his game to include being serviceable on defense. Kanter is the one pouting because he's coming off the bench.

And yes he is a bad player. Defensively he is garbage, and offensively he only looks for himself even when he randomly passes the ball.

Kanter wants to start but provide little to nothing of starter worthy game. But if he thinks he's better than that, he should ask to leave.

Kornet has outplayed him the past 2 games, straight up. He could try to stop sulking and win his spot back instead of playing like garbage and crying.

Lol ok so we are using a sample size of 2 games to discredit a whole career of work by Kanter? We know what Kanter is. He’s a double double machine and on the right team he’s valuable. He even won us a few games this year. Knicks have every right to play Kornet and they should. I’m not against that. I’m just saying let’s stop expecting players to just stfu and ball. They’re human with their own aspirations. I understand him completely. He’s not wrong for taking his money. Now he needs to just bow out gracefully and play for a team that he will have a consistent role for.

Mitch should be back soon. Him and Kornet should get all the center minutes. If they get in foul trouble, put Vonleh there for a few.

Kanter demeanor and actions actually warrant dnp's, not praise or sympathy.

You see him and don’t think he’s improved from OKC? I think he’s improved his whole career from Utah till now. He’s as slim as he’s ever been currently. He’s only what 25,26? He’ll never be a good defensive player. But I’ve seen some games in which he’s serviceable. I also like his competitive nature. The philly game last year that he outplayed Joel Embiid. He’s put up monster games. He looks much worse on the Knicks because they also have weak defenders around him. The whole team is weak on D so I won’t just single him out.

Can Kornet play pf? Is there any hope for a Mitch, Kornet lineup? I would like to see that.

All that is individual. No he hasn't improved to any degree as a teammate. If Kanter thinks he's worthy, then leave. It's not that hard.

What are we discrediting? He was a career backup center when he got here. We know what Kanter is. Kanter doesn't know what Kanter is. He thinks he's an all-star, but in reality he isn't good enough to be a starting center for any half decent non-tanking team. He thinks he contributes to wins, but he plays losing basketball. He can't play defense and he can't adapt to the modern game and shoot 3s even though to his credit, he realized this and he tried. He's an elite rebounder and a black hole on offense when he gets the ball. I don't blame him for taking his money either. But he did, and he knew what this team's objectives are. He doesn't have to stfu and ball but it would be much better for his future if he did. Now he's just letting the league know he will be disgruntled and a distraction if they try to bench him. Who wants that? His future in the NBA is a bench player. If he refuses it, he won't be in the NBA much longer, and I will have trouble feeling bad for him when that happens.

For sure. I get the physical hype for Zion, but RJ is Kobe potential. Zion is a bully who can't shoot in college and is a freak athlete. I watch him and I see Rodney Rogers. He is not Barkley. He can't shoot like Barkley. Not sure who he defends in the league, either.

I agree with you on Zion, I don't think he's as sure fire of a great player as people think. There are tons of question marks. But RJ also has holes in his game as well. There may not be a great player to come out of this draft at all.

The problem is Zion has no physical peer in college. He will in the league. He doesn't have a great half court game nor does he create much for others.

And when people sag off him and let him shoot then what. I don't if the weakside blocks will translate, either.

RJ shoots too much. But he creates for himself and others. He can handle and finish on the break and he has a natural position as a big 2 or athletic 3.

His positional defence is good and he'll be fine in a system. He rebounds in college well for his spot.

It's just there isn't another player like Zion so he's exciting, but Barrett is much more NBA ready.

Take a look at the Knicks shot selection then get back on this.

I may want Kanter gone but to scapegoat him is ridiculous.
