The player I'm most intrigued by (and not exactly the rookie I think will be the best this year) is Rui Hachimura. I don't watch much college ball these days, but whenever I watched Gonzaga play I wasn't that impressed by Rui. He looked like he had potential, but his feel for the game looked really behind. I've watched only one full SL and FIBA game of his, but just based on that small sample size he looked a lot more aware and decisive in his decision making. He's no Joe Ingles, but more advanced than from what I saw in college.

As I understand it he didn't start playing basketball until late, so that's a factor, but I've learned that late bloomers aren't always a slam dunk. I was unbelievably high on Bismack Biyombo and thought he'd turn into Dwight 2.0, but it never happened. Joel Embiid on the other hand looks like he's going to eventually be the MVP, and that's on top of missing two whole years to just getting better and not even developing his game. Some players have learning curves that are so profound they quickly close the gap and eventually surpass their peers, whereas for others they're way too behind to do anything about it. Rui is uncannily skilled in a lot of areas of the game, so if his feel for the game progresses then he's a sleeper.

Coby White is +2200 to win ROY. Seems like good value for a player who projects to get a decent amount of usage.

That guy looks totally out of control. I hate players like that.

Curious to see how long they let him stay on ball with LaVine there. Especially with Coby still learning the position.

Who cares about popularity contests? The real question is which rookies will be rotation players on playoff teams. I can assure you that most of the players in this poll will not make that list, which will be very short.

Well ya that is kind of a no brainer though. Most times the top 10 picks go to the 10 worst teams. Most rookies dont have a big enough impact to drag a bottom 10 team into the playoffs. Most rookies who are playing in the playoffs is due to being drafted to a playoff team.

The great ones do. Milwaukee won 27 games the year before Kareem arrived and 56 in his rookie year. Cleveland went from 17 wins to 35 in the year LeBron arrived, to 42 the next year to 50 in 2005-06.

Lebron, Shaq, Dirk, KG, KD, AD, Giannis, Curry just some guys off the top of my head as rookies that didn't make the playoffs as a rookie. Some of these guys didn't even make it in their second year.

Bulls signed Satoransky this offseason and still have Kris Dunn too. White's going to need to be pretty good to get big minutes on that squad.

Ah, good call. Yep, he'll probably need too many things to break his way to have a legit shot.

LeBron didn't play in the playoffs as a rookie.

Philly is buzzing about Thybulle's defensive performance in the team scrimmage today. In the first half he had 6 steals and a highlight reel block:

Thybulle was the best defensive player I'd seen at the college level since Anthony Davis. His instincts are amazing. He's pretty much guaranteed to be All-NBA defence if he can stick enough jump shots to stay on the court imo.
