A modern day prospect.

This is what I imagine the bare minimum is for shooting/dribbling once you get as far as your NBA draft year because it's not like Jared Butler is some worldbeater, or guarantee to be anything of note at the next level.

But I just can't believe players have played and practiced and shot for years and years and years theoretically as much as I imagine guys like Springer (and Zhaire) have/had to to get to this point and still have a robotic jumper and a stiff handle.

It's incomprehensible to me.

Scoring comfortably in the 15+ ppg range with a very mid-heavy game. As soon as he fully embraces the three point shot and plays starter's minutes, he'll be a 20+ ppg scorer with elite defense. Keep slinging.

Can't wait for Kobble to turn on Springer the moment everyone here gets hype on him.

I'll be giving status updates of my feelings on him by posting gifs of Emperor Commodus' thumb at various angles.

Starting to understand his game a bit more. I just need him to shoot 2000 catch and shoot 3's per game all summer long. He looks absolutely money from the line and has a smooth stroke. Great finisher around the rim. Smart player knows the right places to be, and he's obviously somewhat putting pressure on defenses with his physical brand of basketball because he gets to the line. And on the defensive end is where he makes his money.

He's still 19 for another seven months. We might have a player here on our hands.

I think he needs to be under more control in the paint and to work on that jumper as you mentioned, but he has the framework to be a good player. Draws fouls, finishes at the rim, plays excellent defense. I'd love to see him get some play to end this year.

I'm happy you guys are coming around on Springer. I will definitely admit he looked pretty bad in Summer League with his lack of explosive movements. But like I keep going back to, trust the traits. On paper, he was too optimistic to fail. EVERYTHING but the three point shot was there. He had the per-minute scoring, he had the assist percentage, he had the steal percentage, he had the block percentage, he had the size and youth. He's a really safe bet to be a really good player. If he develops a three point shot, he's a darkhorse 20+ ppg scorer. I really don't see a lot of separation between Jalen Suggs and Jaden Springer on paper. Not sure why one was in top 5 discussion and the other barely went in the first round (some mocks had him as a 2nd rounder).

How is Springer the least athletic guy I've ever seen and sneaky athletic at the same time?

The 44.1% free throw rate as a freshman was really encouraging. Similar to Beal, McCollum and Shai. He clearly has some scoring instincts. Even if it can look visually clunky at times.

You nailed it. I watched a lot of his games at UT, and it was the same thing - he can physically beat up on college and G-League guards, and doesn't settle for perimeter shots as much as you'd like, but he'll need that at the next step. He's got all the tools, just needs to, as you say, shoot a million 3's this summer.

I'm wondering where people think Springer would be drafted in the upcoming draft if he was included. He is still younger than most of the players that I believe will be selected in the lottery. I would have him as a late lottery selection. Springer reminds me of Lu Dort.

Mid first.

I thought he struggled in the Gleague.

He looks like a guy that can draw fouls with physicality. He loves contact. He drives to the hoop like Jay Ajayi runs: violent and aggressive. Those types usually get whistles.

Jaden Springer is just 6 months older than Dyson Daniels.
Jaden Springer is just 2 months older than Jaden Hardy.

Jaden Springer 15-4-2

Dyson Daniels 11-6-4 (projected lotto)

Jaden Harden 18-4-3 (mid first)

Their mediocre numbers are almost the same.
