With the unreliability of WCJ/JI I don't think we should rely on MoeW and Goga as our psuedo starting C/Backup PF for the entire season no?

It’s going to be interesting.

Grant Williams would certainly fill that backup 4 role and provide much needed shooting that the Magic lack. He’s basically what we hoped we’d be getting out of Chuma, but is that skill set worth spending more than the MLE (13-15M AAV) to make happen?

There’s always trades as well.

a 6'7 wide buff dude as the psued-starting C?? Backup PF?

You know.. in some lineups, Grant might be the shortest player in our team lol

Basketball Reference, which admittedly isn’t always the most reliable, has tracked 83% of Williams’ career minutes at PF.

Over the last three years, that’s gone up even higher to 88% of his total minutes (6% at SF, 6% at C).

Yeah, even BOS played him more as a PF. However, PF we have Paolo, the unreliability of JI plus the inconsistency of MoeW... with even gimmick lineup where we can plug Franz there.

C position though.....

I seen Max Strus play on the Miami Heat, I like him more than Suggs, Cole, Fultz and our 2 new draft picks, I would start Max Strus if we get him.

What if I told you that Strus shot 31.9% from 3 in the 2023 playoffs?

Yeah.... this off season has had a lot of doozy spicy takes already. From trading Franz to this one...

Big time pass on Grant Williams. Don't like him. When you talk crap and say you're going to make both free throws, and then you brick them, I don't want you. I allow someone to miss a couple free throws, but don't run your mouth and then not back it up. That's just being a loser little b****. Plus, he's one of those Player's Union guys that thinks he's God's shining example of ethical business. When in reality he's just a mediocre 24 year old basketball player.

That's a harshly exaggerated critique, but still. Pass.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

The Magic need shooting and Strus can certainly shoot, but I assume the Magic would also be moving on from Gary Harris in the process and overall it feels a bit like six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Like why eat into your 2024 cap space on a multi-year deal for Strus when you could just retain Harris for another year at $13M and basically get the same thing for next season?

Exactly, we r not gonna hurt our 2024 Cap, if we get a FA it LL be on a 1+1 deal.

Bobby Marks dropped an NBA free agency piece. Some interesting nuggets.

The only guaranteed contracts?
WCJ, Paolo, Franz, Suggs, Black, and Jett

The projected depth chart?
PG: Fultz|Black|Suggs|MCW
SG: Harris|Cole|Houstan
SF: Franz|Jett|Kevon|Schofield
PF: Paolo|JI|Okeke
C: WCJ|Bol|Goga

Team needs?
Starting SG
Wing depth
Shooting

Don't expect Bol, MCW, Goga, or Schofield on the roster, if so that means this FO struck out or just refused to improve the bench. Okeke is an interesting one because he can be used as a filler for trades but doesn't really have any value. He's just a cap piece like Isaac
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

With the extreme caveat that things are very likely to change over the next 5-7 days, specifically with Cole, Gary and the backup center spot...

PG: Fultz, Anthony, Black, MCW
SG: G. Harris, Suggs, Houstan, K. Harris
SF: Wagner, Bol, Howard
PF: Banchero, Isaac, Okeke, Schofield
C: Carter, Bitadze

Mortiz isn't officially under contract right now so he's not listed.

I expect MCW, Kevon and Admiral to all depart in the next few days.

Gary Harris is still here until he's not. Same for Cole. Same for Bol. Same for Goga.

What they decide to do with Cole and Gary will obviously very much determine what happens with Black. If they keep all three guys, Black is not going to play much point guard next season. He's just not. He'll likely find minutes at SF in that scenario.

If they move one of Cole or Gary (or Fultz, but we all know he's not going anywhere), then things will shuffle around.

My best guess at a depth chart begins with guessing that we're not going to add any rotation players in FA:

Fultz -- Cole
Suggs -- Black
Franz -- Black
Paolo -- JI/Moe
WCJ -- JI/Moe

My crazy suggestion is that we give Vooch a Jeff Green style one-year overpay contract to be our sixth man.

What is the depth chart?

As of today:
Fultz/Anthony/Black
G-Harris/Suggs/Howard
F-Wagner/Bol/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac/Okeke
Carter/Bitadze

And there is approximately a zero-point-zero percent chance this is the opening night roster.
