Or you know, we could have traded up for Missi, Clingan, Edey, Ware, or just straight up drafted Filipowski instead of drafting some dude who might be good in three years and using him as a throw in to an at best questionable trade.

Since the trade I am questioning if they really drafted him on potential or they always wanted him as an asset (so just draft someone very young that can show flashes no matter the fit). He didn't play much and was always somewhat of an unknown due to his year in AUS. So a rebuilding team can be convinced that he is as good as a draft pick.

If Horst was convinced at the draft that there was no one good enough to be used this year why not go for the most obscure guy to be able to shop easily later.

Bingo

Or find a team that wanted someone so badly at that spot they would trade a future first for that pick. Or draft Filipowski who many here wanted and has shown some flashes already in an early career. Decent rebounder and defender, makes moving Lopez' contract easier.

Biggest concern right now is moving the 2031 1st for a non long-term piece.

Wonder if we are still looking at Cody Martin.

Hes such a conflicting set of values:

Very good defense and rebounding
Cant shoot
Has club option for 25-26

So maybe we are interested in him strictly to shed 9.4 of Pat C for next year with the bonus that hes usable for half a season. Also totally possible that thats a backup plan in case we cant trade Pat and two seconds for a much smaller expiring contract.

Idk

Yeah, the "screw it I won't be here for the fallout" factor is quite high when it comes to Horst and our 2031 1st. I am worried.

One man's worry is another's excitement.

I will be thrilled if we move that pick today. We will definitely get something good for it.

Something like this would be the perfect way to finish this deadline. Bobby & Pat plus the 31 first for Hunter makes perfect sense.

1) Opens a spot to sign Rollins
2) Adds the wing defender we desperately need
3) Moves Kuz into the 6th man role where he can be a primary scorer
4) Leans the team into more small ball lineups with Hunter/Kuz/Giannis all playing together which is the only we are going to compete with Boston or NY

Updated to make legal

MIL Hunter/Santos

GSW Bobby

ATL-Payton/Pat/Marjon/GSW 2nds/ MLW 2031 first

Don't know if we can off load Marjon somewhere for cash because I don't think ATL can cut 2 guys.

We traded Besson for Lessort

Best offensive rebounder on the French National Team, if that says anything (it does).

If a future 1st was offered we would certainly be all over it, but no one would do that in such a low talent draft year. Maybe you are right on Filipowsky, but it doesn't matter what we think about him, but whether or not Horst believed in him during the draft.

You could also use that same frame work to get boggy and not give up any assets. ATL gets out of the 3rd year boggy and 9 million in cap space next year.

It's funny seeing all these folks saying "I'm out" and then we'll see them in the game thread next week. If you want out from a franchise that has spent hundreds of millions trying (unsuccessfully, except once, which is huge) to win championships you can go be a fan of the Hornets or Wizards.

Moving the 31 first for Hunter would be criminal.

I can just feel that '31 first going out today for something completely nauseating.

I’m not quite sure why some people are expecting any more trades to happen (for anybody good that is). This team has no assets.

Monk is off to a really rough start as Kings PG. Dame for Sabonis.

Bobby and Brook have value

Dame has value

31 1st has value

They have assets, just need a good match and an actual plan

Well that's the single worst trade I've ever seen on this board.

None of these posters or "fans" are out. They enjoy being miserable and bitching too much.

Can we just loop this deal into the Washington one, so that PBJ can be dealt now?

Mke: Hunter, Okongwu, Gueye
Atl: Brook, Pat, Marjon, PBJ, ‘31 1st

I don’t love moving the ‘31 1st for guys we don’t necessarily see as core pieces, but maybe this would be enough for us.

Hunter becomes your 3rd option with Kuz as a capable 4th. You still have Bobby, but you add a defensively versatile big with a little shooting potential in Okongwu.

Idk... I'd argue that if Bobby and Brook had the value some here think they do, they likely would've been moved already.

I think Brook has some value. I'm not sure Bobby does.
