Celtics have 4 NBA ready guards on the roster. That's not a glut.

Young and Hunter are more long term projects.

Marcus Thornton is clearly redundant so obviously Ainge thought he was the BPA. He's got some seriously ridiculous athleticism. Fastest sprint and second highest vertical (43) at the combine. Good shooter too. It doesn't make sense, but I don't hate it.

Must be trading for a big man, Noel or Hibbert is my guess.

They saw the Centers in person and weren't impressed? Has anyone thought that may be the case?

Lol at people freaking out over the Marcus Thornton pick.

Relax, just swinging for the fences at 45. Since there is limited upside there.

Coke and heart issues were some of the rumors.

Coke and heart issues would make any Celtics' GM think five times before drafting such a guy.

Ainge is apparently drafting for the red claws because that's where three of these guys are spending most of their time.

I'd love to hear more about this. Is this a rumor from somewhere? Sorry, been away from the boards and from the NBS for a while.

I don't think Hibbert would fit with the pace we want to play

Yeah, I'm not sour on tonight either. I think there were a lot of unrealistic expectations coming into tonight. It's harder to move up in the draft than many presumed it to be. We're okay still. As far as the picks themselves go, I'm fine with them until they prove otherwise. We picked up a guy who can beat his guy off the bounce, which we needed, a guy who can really shoot, which is always welcome, and a shot blocker. I don't regard any of them as home runs, but they seem like reasonable picks for our needs. I'm sure Danny tried like hell to trade up for a star, but couldn't make it happen. I'm not surprised. Teams don't generally like to trade quality for quantity.

I sometimes wonder if the speed and access of all the social media, videos, reviews, etc actually make the team execs more conservative in their dealings. There's so much at stake when every move you make can be scrutinized with 20/20 vision by anyone with a phone.

If you look at tonight from a broader league perspective, almost nothing happened, even after weeks of rumors and speculation. Ok, cavs Hawks wolves wizards made some minor trades. Meh. Celtics weren't the only team in left standing at the alter

I think that Ainge is aiming for Embiid..

Embiid + Okafor wont work, but Noel + Okafor will.

And Noel had a very good rookie season, no way he gets traded.. Its the one who injured his foot the second time.

It just needed to be made clear in brutal fashion.

And it was. Has nothing to do with rooting against my team. Just pimpkicking some of the low IQ people who spent a year talking down to me.

FWIW, Ainge would take the IT trade back in a minute, bet on that.

Ugh, you are sounding just as arrogant as humble on this. Have some water and take this down a notch or two.

Don't worry, it's over now.

I really don't care much about whatever opinion you have about the Celts tanking or not. I don't care about the history of this debate on the board. I have to disagree with your point that Ainge would retract the deal though. Isaiah Thomas is better than all but a few of the players drafted in the lottery this year will ever be. I'm all for tanking, but this draft is being severely overrated. I guess time will tell, but MY crystal ball predicts that only one or two of these guys ever makes an all-nba team.

Yeah, this horsesh*t makes no sense unless we're trading Smart for Noel and possibly dumping Bradley's salary. Like, you can't roll the dice on Christian Wood, or draft a big body like Dakari Johnson to get a look in summer league?

If ainge is gonna go after Embiid or noel it better be noel.

Unless it's only gonna cost us 1 pick and it's not one of the Nets Pick. Then maybe you take a chance.

On the plus side, Crowder must be happy.

Smart for Embiid trade incoming????

I wouldn't be shocked by that at all, if Embiid's prognosis seems okay.
